Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi 👋 I'm a 70 yo, divorced ,retired registered general nurse of 32 years . I live in Adelaide, with my son. I've suffered with major depression and anxiety all my life, only diagnosed 35 years ago. Managed well with therapy and medications. I'm in a free mental health support group, meeting every Wednesday, with a fantastic wealth of experience from its members. My spiritual life is an enormous blessing. I love reading, listening to classical music, walking, nature, socialising, and cooking. I have a sulphur crested cockatoo Jacob 34 yo and Tiki cat 11 yo male. Very interested in mental health support.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi. I'm 50. I have major depressive disorder, GAD, social anxiety, complex PTSD and I was diagnosed with ASD and ADHD in 2020. Discovering I am autistic was a shock but also freeing in a way. It's hard to explain but I've spent my whole life trying to fit in and I finally realized I didn't need to. I still struggle with my mental health and I'm still rediscovering myself

Anyway a couple of fun facts about me. I love Kuromi. I only discovered her this year but I absolutely relate to her.

I love crafts and writing poetry.

So that's my intro.

Hello 🙂

I am sole parent to a lovely teenager with complex mental health issues. It's been quite a journey with no end in sight.

I know were are asked to share a interesting or fun things about ourselves here, but I'm drawing a blank. I am perpetually exhausted!

Looking forward to learning more from community members and also to sharing some of my learnings from the past few years.

Liberty

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi, I am new to the group just today and have already found it helpful to read and join the discussions…. I have just started to come out of a severe 2 week depression triggered by stressful events in my life…. I completely shut down worse than ever before and looking back it scares me!

Over the past few years I have had my depressed times where I self isolate and shut myself off until responsibilities or obligations pull me out of it, but now I am newly separated, living alone and had to leave my job and have no routine so when I self isolated it became harder and harder to pull myself out each day. I had help available but cancelled my appointments and just let it consume me. I stopped eating and drinking and it was only when I decided I really needed to shower and then nearly fainted that I became alarmed. I HATE how I felt and I HATE how I let myself shut down so badly. It is taking so much effort to rebuild on my own and all the anxiety of a looming court appearance. Please help me stay accountable to not allow myself to be consumed but the dark heavy feelings as I learn to love myself again and my new life ahead.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi Everyone @

I'm new here and bit nervous tbh!

I don't normally do this but have nowhere else to turn as this year has been the most difficult I've had.

I suffer from depression, over load explosion and high anxiety in general, but these past few mths I have now been getting panic attacks as well.

I lost my job of 9yrs, still stuck in why and have so much anger hurt and humiliation from this. My 12yr old son who suffers from ADHD, ODD and high anxiety has just been expelled from last term of yr 6. Also hitting me with his suicide thoughts which has broken my heart as he a softy and its because ppl pick on him and he has no friends!

I've just very recently come from a friendship/relationship thing of 6yrs and I am absolutely destroyed from. He being a gaslighter, manipulator and a narcissist has really done a number on me right to the end and Iost everything.

On top of a mother who is also the same and been in middle of their war against each other.

As I write this I am shaking with tears rolling down my face broken.

I honestly can't see a clear path anymore and I'm terrified I will never come back out this time.

Has anyone gotten out of similar situation and bounced back???
