Struggling

Struggling

Struggling at the moment.

I'm experiencing a combination of depression and anxiety bringing up all sorts of negative memories. Mistakes I made and opportunities I failed to take up.

It's making me feel unwell, jittery, hopeless, painfully uncomfortable and unable to rest.

I'm not even sure I will post this but at least it gives me something to focus on in the moment.

I know other people have real problems. When I look at my life objectively I feel like a fraud. I'm weak and lazy.

Like why can't I just start doing something meaningful to relieve the anxiety?

Every little thing seems too hard, too much for me to handle.

I'm overwhelmed.

I have so many excuses to NOT participate in everyday life.

Yes I have diagnoses but I also receive ongoing treatment for them.

I should be doing better.

Re: Struggling

I've been told similar things re: being childish @perspective.

"It's not fair!" is a bit of a catch cry of catch cry of mine.

I'm glad to hear you are feeling a bit more motivated.

Take care,

Re: Struggling

Hello @RedHorse @Shaz51 @perspective I guess we're all struggling in a way. Lately I've let housework slide and it feels hard to get back on track. Ì feel tired and run down but there's nothing really wrong.

I hope the weather's easing for you @RedHorse and not so hot @Shaz51 . Take care.

Re: Struggling

Hi @Dimity it is not raining here at the moment, but there is more forecast over the next seven days.

I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling too.

I can understand your anxiety as I haven't tidied my caravan despite being confined to it for the past week or so.

Perhaps allow yourself some '"time off" from household chores (my psychologist suggested this to me) or break housework into manageable tasks with self care/ rewards for yourself once completed (suggested to me by other forum members).

As @Shaz51 said little by little. Every day is different.

Did you get to your class today and more importantly did you enjoy it? No more two hour bus treks I hope.

Take care,
RedHorse 🌹🐴

Re: Struggling

I mowed the lawn yesterday . I felt a sense of accomplishment afterwards. Today I’ve been totally slack tho

Re: Struggling

@RedHorse being confined to the caravan wouldn't be easy... my sister used to call the sensation of being housebound "cabin fever". I enjoyed my class thanks and broke the trip home with a supermarket shop and then taxi ( too many aches and pains to carry the load from the busstop). Today I did some weeding then slept most of the afternoon. So I guess I gave myself time off. I like the idea of breaking down tasks to manageable chunks - either by task or by time. A 25 minute timer is my go-to sometimes but I've let the achievement be its own reward. Maybe I could aim for something more eg it's been a while since I used essential oils in my oil diffuser, or listened to music cds. What works for you?

Re: Struggling

I usually let the achievement be its own reward too @Dimity .

Rewards that have been suggested to me include resting quietly, having a bath or shower, applying hand cream, burning incense or oils, enjoying hot or cold drinks, listening to music etc... Self care activities I guess, a couple of which you've mentioned.

Sounds like you had a couple of productive days outside on Tuesday and Wednesday with class, shopping and weeding.

I hope today is going okay for you my friend. I'm having a very slow one.

Take care,

Re: Struggling

Hello @RedHorse , @Dimity , @perspective

Re: Struggling

Hi @Shaz51 @RedHorse @perspective nice to hear from you. @Shaz51 rest is good. Weeding here is a bit easier if there's been some rain. @RedHorse I like your selfcare list. Well done for mowing @perspective .

Yes I guess I have been getting out more - it's giving me something else to think about. I was out again this morning for a medical appointment and the taxi driver took the scenic route - no further but via some backstreets past some lovely parks, which was nice.

I'm still enjoying the daily Wordle challenge. Some are easier than others.

Wishing you all a pleasant evening

Dimity
