Struggling

Struggling

Struggling at the moment.

I'm experiencing a combination of depression and anxiety bringing up all sorts of negative memories. Mistakes I made and opportunities I failed to take up.

It's making me feel unwell, jittery, hopeless, painfully uncomfortable and unable to rest.

I'm not even sure I will post this but at least it gives me something to focus on in the moment.

I know other people have real problems. When I look at my life objectively I feel like a fraud. I'm weak and lazy.

Like why can't I just start doing something meaningful to relieve the anxiety?

Every little thing seems too hard, too much for me to handle.

I'm overwhelmed.

I have so many excuses to NOT participate in everyday life.

Yes I have diagnoses but I also receive ongoing treatment for them.

I should be doing better.

Re: Struggling

You should write a list of items you need and what you have to do to accomplish the trip. Then have a special spot to put the things you need to take.
On the rare occasions I travel I write lists and place my stuff near the door. I always have a small gift for the person I visit. Sometimes these visits can be valuable to clear your head a bit .

Re: Struggling

Thanks @perspective, the list sounds like a great idea to have a point to start from. It's the starting that I really struggle with.

Perhaps this trip is exactly what I need to lift myself out of the deep depression I've been in for far too long.

Take care,

Hey @Dimity

I seem to remember you had run out of psychology sessions for the year a while ago?

The same thing happened to me this month and my GP referred me for an additional 10 sessions under the covid exemption for 2022.

I thought I would mention it to you in case it was something you wanted to pursue.

I had seen mention of 20 sessions per year during covid on the forum but didn't know what it referred to until last week.

Hoping this info is useful to you.

Take care,

Re: Struggling

Hello @RedHorse I'm glad you enjoyed the visit from your brother and sister-in-law, and they were supportive. Making plans to visit your daughter sounds wonderful. Focus on getting there - deciding what to take and how to get there should fall into place now you've made up your mind.

I'm really happy for you.

Are you travelling soon?

Re: Struggling

Thanks @RedHorse. I know I'm entitled to another mental health plan but I have trouble connecting with my gp sometimes and feel she's fobbed me off when I've tried raising it... like I don't deserve it. So I've been concentrating òn wellbeing through diet and exercise. It's helped but I'm going gaga without talking to anyone.

Re: Struggling

Thanks @Dimity, the excitement of going is starting to outweigh the dread of preparing 🙂

I'll be away from 22 September, exactly a month today.

Take care,

Re: Struggling

It's a shame that you don't connect with your GP @Dimity and I'm sorry that you feel fobbed off.

You definitely deserve another MH plan plus you are entitled to it!

Is it worth raising it with your current GP again or even seeing another GP in the longer term?

I'm glad your diet and exercise program is working somewhat, but we all need someone to talk to on the regular.

Take care,

Re: Struggling

Hi @RedHorse 4 weeks is a good amount of time to get ready and gives you time to get to town for anything extra you need.

You're right, I'll need to follow up with my GP... maybe I've been avoidant too.

Re: Struggling

I can't seem to find my way to the worry room so I'm just going to put this here...

I'm terrified.

I don't think that I can do it.

My hands are trembling so much I can barely type.

What looks easy from the outside has my inside in turmoil.

I'm not the person my daughter believes me to be.

I'm weak, fragile and pathetic.

I can't bear it, this rumination and worry.

If I do manage to get to WA I'm going to be a disappointment and embarrassment...

Edited to add: I am safe, just feeling distressed and needing to vent.
