Tragedy

Tragedy

Today has been a very, very difficult day for the entire school community here in Tasmania. Inexplicably 5 beautiful children, celebrating their last day at Primary school, lost their lives in a tragic accident. Several more are still in a critical condition and there really are no words for what the families and community are going through.

At this time it puts a lot into perspective. Every day is a gift!

Re: Tragedy

I heard about it @Zoe7

It is really sad and terrible - I do understand and have an idea how this will affect the families of those children and their community

What else can I say - it is a tragedy and I don't use the word lightly - my thoughts are with you as well as those directly affected

Re: Tragedy

As expected, today has been an incredibly difficult day. I saw my Principal in tears this afternoon and that was the last straw. I have not stopped thinking about our own kids and our close knit community - and how such a tragedy would affect us ...but it is not us and I cannot fatham the grief within the Devonport community. I have friends who live/work in that area (won't be any more specific) and do not want to know more in case it is a family I know - just can't handle that right now.

The whole of Tassie feels broken today. As a school community we are all pretty connected across the state - we have friends, family, colleagues far and wide and feel for each and every one of those that have been impacted by this tragedy. There really are no words that can help at present - it is just hard!

It is also the anniversary today of my grandmother's death so my heart is just broken.
