Sad News

I have just received the sad news that a long-time on-line friend of my has died in the United States in the last few hours

He was about my age - had had suffered terribly from chronic pain for all the time I knew him - and he has had a series of strokes and died after the last one - apparently - from the little I know so far

At least he will be out of his suffering - and I am glad for that - but sorry still - it always hurts us when someone we care about has to pass on

Re: Sad News

Hi @Decadian. So sorry to hear your sad news. Losing friends is extremely hard, when they live o/seas it's harder because you can't attend the funeral to say goodbye. Echoing sadgirl, please accept my sincerest condolences. Could you send a card just to acknowledge you were friends with this person? As you say, he is no longer suffering, try to find peace in that knowledge.

Re: Sad News

Thanks so much @BlueBay and @pip

The best I could do for my friend's family was to leave a message on his mobile phone - hoping that someone in his family would read how highly I thought of him and what a fine man he was

He was a member of the Website I left in the United States - and he tried to get me to stay - but I could not remain a member there under the circumstances - which is a great pity

But it means a lot that people here are supportive - I feel rather shaken up since I had a text from a mutual friend telling me that my friend has died

Many thanks

Re: Sad News

@Decadian. So sorry to hear of the death of your good friend. But yes, his physical pain is over now and I believe our souls go to a special place.
Remember your friend for all that he was and the wonderful moments you got to share.
You have my thoughts with you during this time.

Thanks @utopia

Yes - he was suffering - I had sent him a couple of email - but I knew he couldn't reply

We all have to go and this man had some kind of light - apart from his being in pain and having strokes he was too young - about my age

And I am a Believerd - I believe in the Special Place too - though I have no idea at all what it will be like

Re: Sad News

@Decadian, my condolences, dying or death is not easy to accept. I belive it to be the greatest argument that we were made for eternity. Losing someone leaved such a hole only they can fill. drains our energy and messes with our head. Just not fair! I'm sorry. Hope you have the strength for the funeral formalities, Be gentle with yourself, xox

Re: Sad News

Hi @Former-Member

I do believe in Eternity - we all die and I can't see all those souls with all the experience being wasted

I will not be going to my friend's funeral - he is in the United States - and I don't even know his address -

At times when I felt sorry for myself with my memories of my adopted son he was someone I could always talk too - he had adopted children too - and always wrote back the best messages

On-line friendships are so valuable - we can share things with people we are not likely to ever meet - we can be more open with the really painful parts of our lives - and this is what it was like with me and my friend - I met him in the website I left some months ago and got a text this afternoon from a mutual friend

So I can pray - I do believe that when we don't know how to pray in certain circumstances - or what to pray - the Spirit prays for us - and He will tonight and tomorrow and for all the time I do not know about

Re: Sad News

Hi @Decadian. I too have a special on-line friend that I treasure. Lucky for me he lives here in Oz, but if I were to lose him as you have just lost your friend, the pain would be great, as yours is. Did you ever meet him, I have been lucky in that way. I actually met my online 'soul mate' earlier this year. This male friend of yours could also be classed as a 'soul mate' because of the special bond you shared. When we do share our inner most fears and happiness with someone, that person then becomes a 'soul mate'. Remember your friend in that special way and put his memories into a special place reserved for special people.

Re: Sad News

Thanks for that message @pip

I never met my on-line friend - yet in truth - we know so much about our on-line friends

The friends I have here in the Forum Family share so much of themselves - as do I - it is a very new way of knowing people - keeping in touch etc. It takes a short time to write an email or a Facebook message - we have the time to read what is written and respond - taking time to think of the right words

We did have a special bond and so - with those special memories and in the special place he has in my life I will remember him - I am not in the habit of returning to the old website though I can read from the outside - I may learn something about his funeral there

I feel wiped out thsi morning - really tired - though I slept well

Thanks again Pip

Re: Sad News

@Decadian. Perhaps if you email one of the moderators on the forums, you may be able to find out where his funeral is? Or if you were able to leave a message with your name and number. Did you know much about his personal circumstances. I know with my friend, he's divorced, has two sons, and a twin. I'm hoping someone will tell me if something was to happen. He has told his twin and one son about me. I'm equally sure your friend would've confided in someone about you. Perhaps, if you can find out details about his funeral, on the day, if you could take a moment's silence.
