The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

I hope you're okay @EternalFlower

Thanks @TAB , I saw my psych today and feel bit better. Meeting my new cm tomorrow. 🤙

Buying shoes no fun? I agree, I hate going to the shops for anything

Today in the OP shop I spotted a designer brand of shoes but 2 sizes too small, so left them there.

Hope ur feeling better aboutur walks now. I know it's super cold atm.

Hello @Dimity @TAB thank you for tagging me @RedHorse @Shaz51 @EternalFlower

Well where to start.

Yes I think that I am turning into a hoarder.

I have kept so many books including my boys' children books which I will not part with.

I have some of their projects..books..pottery attempts that i adore.

Reams and reams of paperwork in A4 books containing notes of my journey from when my son went missing and so on.

This I really struggle with shredding as I feel as though I am losing a part of him that I still have as I don't really have him.

Potential art projects.

Toys

Teddy bears.

Furniture saving for son needs to go now.

Clothes I have given some away and op shopped some. Many more to go through.

They still fit and I love mixing and matching.

My mindset needs to be reprogrammed and I have scanned through the book mentioned. Not my style.

Friends have offered to help and life just keeps on keeping on getting in the way.

I have it in the back of my mind when the warmer weather comes to make another start.

I still have op shop ready boxes from over a year ago.

One day

..double edged sword hey @Sophia1 ?

they World getting harder , scarier which leads to hoarding (I suppose)

but if stuff really goes downhill need to travel light ok and carry gold as survivors know...

my father (born just before Great Depression) used to have tiny gold ingots scattered over house in hiding places

Yes @TAB

European style to have money stashed under mattresses; floorboards even dug deep into the back garden.

I get that reaction as their generation went through so much more than we have.

I hope to walk tomorrow..

Fingers and everything else crossed

Sophia
