The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

Re: The magic of tidying

That sounds like a really rough night. Waking up with a splitting headache on top of back and neck pain would be exhausting.

It also makes sense that money stress and needing a new pillow would add to everything right now.

Please be gentle with yourself today, the tidying can wait. I hope the tiger balm helps a little and that the headache eases soon @GezzaP

@Nala2022 The tiger balm is good for a little while. Need to stretch back and neck again. Went for a short walk. Won’t get on computer today even though I really should. It will have to wait. Will do physio again. Might see if can get stronger pain killer script. Run out.

Re: The magic of tidying

It sounds like you’re doing your best to manage a really uncomfortable day, especially with the pain you’re dealing with.

I’m glad the tiger balm and short walk gave you a bit of relief, even if it’s temporary. Stretching and physio sounds like a good plan for your back and neck.

I hope you’re able to get some relief from the pain soon @GezzaP

Good morning @Dimity @Oaktree Headache very persistent. Didn’t sleep well. Trying to relax. Going to shops and acupuncture this morning and got internet technician coming in the afternoon.

No time for tidying today as got to read and fill in form for eye surgery. Have good days and happy tidying if you are doing it today.

Re: The magic of tidying

@GezzaP today's tidying was getting ready for home help.

Are you preparing for eye surgery? Cataracts? I hope it goes well. I've had mine done with mixed results.

Hope you can shake the headaches and insomnia.

Re: The magic of tidying

I’m having cataracts done yee @Dimity . Hoping it goes well. A bit nervous about it but should be ok. The hardest part for me will be the long fasting hours.
