The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

Well done @Oaktree . Good tips @TAB .

I'm still working, have to finish vacuuming. Usually I have help with it. My back is really feeling it.

Thanks @Appleblossom

I do have a lot going on at the moment. I do want a tidy house but it’s really hard to achieve.

Hi @Dimity

My back often starts to hurt too. It’s frustrating when you are trying to get stuff done

Yes, I'm in that boat. I need to do it today, but I'm totally procrastinating! I need to do it before I go camping. So I don't have long. I want to change all the bed sheets, vaccuum, mop, tidy more clothes, iron etc....

Argh... where do I start????

Re: The magic of tidying

I started with the laundry @tyme . Then started moving things back but the sofa cushions and carpet aren't quite dry.

Off now for an Easter visit.

Enjoy your camping trip!!

Enjoy the easter visit! @Dimity

I haven't done ANYTHING today... I only thought about it lol. Is that worth rewarding @Dimity ?

Re: The magic of tidying

Thinking and imagining what you can do is so so important @tyme . It's something I struggle with.

I was so pleased I kept on track for 6 or 7 weeks culminating in steam cleaning, although it wasn't really planned that way with losing my cat. Easter was my goal.

Now I guess I'll be needing to decide what comes next.

@PeppiPatty I cleaned fridge just now. Shelf by shelf in case had to stop. it was worse than I thought. Not many shelves in silly design, so only have crisper to got ok and top shop shelf ,but looks okay to me. Lucky cleaned door seal, it was crackly and covered in gunk down bottom, had to go over it a few times. well should have extended its life andposs saved some power as well lol.

Fed cat.

Cleaned cat bowls

made dinner (put in fridge , not hungry)

no I have water all over floor as shelves wider than sink ha ha

tomorrow's problem.

Well done @TAB . The water should evaporate. My cat would've drunk it.
