The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

@AuntGlow @Dimity

I cleaned up for Christmas Day but my solution was putting my piles into bags. Need to go through them and find proper homes for things. Never did mop the floor.

@Oaktree I just bagged some stuff for the op shop. Other stuff is now on the floor until tomorrow.

We'll get there.

Re: The magic of tidying

I just swept the downstairs tiles for the first time in a couple of months. Desperately need to vacuum the upstairs carpets but it's way too hot today. Feeling guilty that I'm only ticking off one thing, but trying to focus on how nice downstairs feels. And it felt easier than usual. I don't post here as much as others, but I want you guys to know I think about you guys all the time and I can hear your voices of support and encouragement. So thanks ❤️

Well done @Chantarelle and thanks

I've done some decluttering - I sorted for opshop, recycling, and rubbish.

But I'm behind on chores.

Ah, good on you! @Oaktree Small steps towards cleaning are definite wins.

Were you able to find proper homes for things? (Totally okay if you didn't, I have had a huge pile of washing for many weeks, which I haven't folded - it's just a pile on the floor! haha)
