The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

How are you feeling @Dimity? Any tidying updates for me? 💛

Re: The magic of tidying

Hi @AuntGlow thanks for checking. Tidying is out of control atm. I have health and family and legal and financial worries. The bank cut me off from savings without notice and I found out by accident today. I'm lodging formal complaints as I'm shocked. It's on top of borderline financial abuse by a couple of family members. The health and legal stuff will take a while to get my head around. The family stuff is intractable and I'd opt out if the cat didn't need me. I'm safe.

Hope you are okay @Dimity . I hear how stressful things are for you right now. I really hope it gets resolved as it sounds like it's the last thing you needed on your plate.

Please take care.

My gosh, I can't imagine how overwhelmed you must be feeling... I want to validate that this is a lot for a person to go through at once. I know we can't change what's happening for you, but can you let me know what would be the most supportive thing we can do for you right now from afar? @Dimity 💛

Re: The magic of tidying

Thanks @tyme and @AuntGlow . It's good to have your support. It's overwhelming but continuing to have that bit of contact through the forums is important to me even though it's been a bit scary lately with some responses I've received. I'm persevering in good faith and hope you'll bear with me. I can't talk about some of the detail of family stuff but I will say it's hard as it resonates with longheld trauma. I'll try to keep on keeping on.
