The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

Hope you're not waiting too much longer before you can get your thyroid treated @TAB .I had my ECG and other tests today.

I hope you @RedHorse @Shaz51 @HenryX @Former-Member and anyone else passing through are OK.

Easter was very quiet, I didn't see anyone. It's hard to get to sleep, hard to wake up, and an effort to do even the basics. I've come to the end of my current mental health plan and feel pessimistic about things improving unless I can make some connections. I'm ashamed of myself and my shabby surroundings and I'm tired of feeling unwell.

Hope your physio was helpful @TAB .

Hope you're going OK @RedHorse

Had a better day. Shopped for groceries and some clothing essentials then cooked a good dinner.

Went through about 80 papers and documents to shred or recycle, setting a few aside to have another look at or save.

I'm really impressed by the decluttering you listed in Daily Achievements @TAB . Inspirational. It's good you've been able to sell some stuff on fb.

Re: The magic of tidying

Thanks @Dimity , it does feel odd, in good way though, def got me out of comfort zone. I was a bit shocked looking at spaces yest, will make myself look at empty spare room tomorrow . Well done with shredding. I think I have/had a thing where I like to fill up spaces. I'll get used to it. Had to be done

Re: The magic of tidying

Oh. The physio was everything I hoped for and more. Haha agreed with my take on things mainly. Massaged knee. Strapped it. Gave me exercises. Told to stop walking 🚶‍♂️ as exercise. I told them was going to join a gym and fix my pushbike which they didn't seem to believe. Ok they said bike best thing to do for it. I couldn't believe on way I home I bought 2 bike pumps and pumped flat tyre up ok other one went flat straight away lol think those valves dont like sitting for months, vaguely rings a bell. And physio has a Plan. Said 6 weeks and its in my hands. There you go. Feel a bit silly took things so lightly last time, dooming myself to fail..
Thanks for asking 😬. Goodnight. @Dimity

Re: The magic of tidying

I have been advised that I will be doing the mopping this weekend. It’s been noted that I’ve been tasked with this as mopping is my responsibility and I haven’t done it for a year (this is not true!). Not entirely sure this activity will raise my enjoyment levels, but we’ll have to see how I go…

Re: The magic of tidying

That's good news re physio @TAB. Strapping, exercises and riding your bike instead of walking and a 6 week trajectory. If only you'd had that advice weeks ago. I wish there weren't such silos between health fields.
