Welcome and getting started

Invisible

Today I feel like life is no longer worth it. I went on to the 8 dimensions of wellness about 1.30pm to say I needed to distract myself....where I noticed Shaz tagged the moderator of my post. We'll just goes to show how worthless I really am... it is now after 3.58pm and nothing! Not that I expected anything but WTF!

sorry I don't usually swear but I don't give a .... today anyway

I have tried my best to reach out to my gp. She's said she's happy for me to finish my meds I then reached out to a mental health clinic (believe me this was EXTREMELY difficult)who also have said that I can stop them if I want, it's up to me. I am trying to show them that by agreeing to take them I need help( and anyone who knows me knows I hate taking medication) last week they have ref. Me to Ports I received their questionaire form this morning and I can't cope with it, I couldn't even get to make a password without help. I told my clinic I shut down I can't handle having to fill in forms, to prove how mentally unwell I am I can't handle page after page it triggers me I have freaked out. Phoned ports to cancel the referral. I have a GP who I know doesn't want me to see her and asked a nurse to get me a half hour appts for another mh questionnaire and the nurse asked ""would I like to see someone else"....no I don't!
I just want to be treated with respect and listened to. There was no need to ask that question and now I have had to cancel this upcoming appointment and I have the stress of looking for some other drs clinic. I just can't do this anymore.

Re: Invisible

Hello @Former-Member

Thanks, yes I had to reschedule with another provider. Mixed news today, I have to follow up further.

I'm sorry it seems you're being squeezed out of your private space and without MH support. Do you journal? You write well. Have you considered perhaps even going beyond journaling and writing notes for a memoir? It could reclaim your sense of self and help reprocess problematic memories. There are online courses ranging from a couple of hours to part-time over years on creative writing. TAFE offers streams focussing on memoir. Just a thought. You could start small with writing family history anecdotes on your ipad and see where it takes you.

Please do consider how you're going to nurture yourself with a full household. Weekends away? Retreat into your own contemplative corner? A garden patch? (Writing that memoir?)

Friday will be a sad day when you go. I've been thinking about my decluttering and minimising and was looking forward to your support. I might try starting a thread on it or try posting in Daily Achievements or the goals thread.

Sorry for the long post.

I hope tomorrow is kind to you @Former-Member

Re: Invisible

Hello @Dimity and thank you for your response. I am not up to talking ATM and can't get on to 'chat' assistance. But I will get back to you before the day is out. 🌺 Jackie

Re: Invisible

Hey @Former-Member,

If that's the SANE Helpcentre chat you're referring to, it likely means our counsellors are busy at the moment, but I"d encourage you to keep trying! They're open until 10pm this evening, and there is also 1:1 peer support open until 4pm you can access here if you'd like to. You can also book a call to connect with someone from the Helpcentre or 1:1 peer support non-urgently if you'd prefer.

That aside, there are a number of other services available to you, including Lifeline and Beyond Blue. I'd like to encourage you to reach out for that extra support or reach out to someone in your offline world. I hope things improve for you soon.

@TideisTurning

Yes I have tried both chat and peer support but unfortunately I haven't been able to get on either. I can't do the phone ones as my husband is here and it's the one phone.

i tried the MH clinic yesterday and left a couple of messages but she didn't get back until a few minutes before 5pm just wanted to know what's made me upset and not mentioned 'my thoughts' the reason for my call to them. Never mind eh. Thanks for the offer and acknowledgement 🌺

Re: Invisible

That sounds so invalidating @Former-Member. I'm sorry to hear you've had that experience. That's totally ok with the limitation of the kind of support you access. I want to encourage you, as I said, to keep trying though and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you're able to get through at some stage soon.

Re: Invisible

Hello @Dimity So sorry that you need to do a follow up with your procedure. I will be keeping you in my thoughts 💕

I have never thought about doing a journal, I make lots of mistakes with writing and thoughts can become scrambled depending on my mind. Thank you for saying I write well it did shock me and made me laugh too. Big thanks for that!

I promise to look into it though as I would like to do family history for my grandchildren.

Already have some records that go back to 1861 on one side of the family and about 1800 on another. If things get too overwhelming for me which I know they will when my family come to stay we shall take off in the Campervan.

I love to make pictures of shells that I collect and like to get into watercolour painting.

I am sorry that I won't be able to help with the declutering, except to say start small and start in the easiest section first. Otherwise it will become overwhelming. It did with me, and I haven't totally finished yet. But it is so freeing of the mind and is such a relief 'stuff' really does weigh you down.

will check out your thread on declutering to see how you go my friend. Take care Jackie🌺

Re: Invisible

@wellwellwellnez Wouldn't it be lovely to have a big party with all our forumites and family. A let's get rid of stigma party! But unfortunately due to not wanting to upset/ worry our loved ones we are creating that very stigma ourselves. Your post has just made me see this....thank you ❤️
It now comes down to how comfortable we feel in disclosing. I think it comes down to our loved ones ASKING and WANTING to know....then the conversation should be open. But sometimes it may be upsetting to know and also don't know enough to ask the right questions. Different generation also.

Take care 💞

Re: Invisible

Glad you have the family history @Former-Member - 1865 and 1800 are very early. I don't know much about one side of the family but some were farmers who settled before the Gold Rush and I know a little about my English grandmother too. She was a good water colour painter and took up oils when she was 80.

Camping sounds like a good escape as the weather warms. Do you have favourite spots, or do you like exploring new places? I regret not being able to drive as I'd like to return to the beautiful area I grew up in for occasional holidays.

You mentioned internalising stigma. I certainly have, especially with former work colleagues who could have become closer friends. Family is problematic, a couple have cPTSD and others have disconnected, we don't or can't communicate, my Mi has compounded family dysfunction. I have definitely experienced stigma from GPs many times and treasured the very few who accepted me. I've been with my current GP only 2 years but hope the relationship continues.

Re: Invisible

The family I have is all from England. I have faint copies an photos given to me.
I also have a copy of a newspaper article and photos and letter from the King and Queen to congratulate my grandparents ( not sure how many great great..Lol) on their Diamond wedding anniversary in February 1926. Very interesting for me but it's more for if the grandchildren ever become interested when they grow up and I am not around.

There is a lot of family dysfunction with my brotherand and sisters too. Very sad indeed. 🌸
