Power of Positivity

Power of Positivity

Hey fellow forumites!

I decided to start a new thread on the power of positivity. I have found in the past I tend to have days where the negativity in my head is so loud I tend to lose sight of what I like about being me. So this is a space where we can all come and list those things we like/love about ourselves anytime we want.

So basically list 5 or more positive things about yourself that you feel today. It can be things you like/love about yourself, things you like/love that you can do, or things you've discovered about yourself, but it has to be positive and relevant to you today, in this moment. It's essentially an exercise in positivity and mindfulness. Be as descriptive as you want.

I'll start us off.

1. I love my body. It carries me everywhere and can do amazing things, like run, swim, ride a bike, lift weights, walk to amazing places, play guitar, sing.

2. I love my sense of humour. I can see the humour an irony in almost anything and I love that my sense of humour keeps me grounded.

3. I love my mental strength. I've waged so many wars in my head, but my mental strength always comes out on top, it's a true warrior.

4. I love that I can write poetry. It has become such an important part of my recovery and I really enjoy it.

5. I love my heart. I'm a big softie and love to make people feel good about themselves.

6. I love my smile. 🙂

Okay, so I am going to tag in some people and hope you can all share it with your friends too.

Thanks for being you! Big hugs! xx

Re: Power of Positivity

Hard night, 4.30am. Thought I'd come here and write something positive to balance things with the worry room post just finished.

5 or more positive things I feel about myself today:

. I avoided a potentially nasty exchange in the car with a support worker by dealing well with an intense emotional response in me to some things she said throughout the day that I found belittling, though they were meant to be helpful.

. I was still grateful and thanked her for the beautiful national park place we visited. I wouldn't have been there without support to do it.

. I have myself researched and booked NDIS support for these weekly national park visits we are doing together, my own idea on how I can gain fitness, spend time in healing nature and find more enjoyment of life.

. I continue to listen to my psychologist's hypnosis and meditation recordings daily, and to do other homework from his six week mindfulness-based course I am part of, and especially that I am finding healing in this.

. I finished a video last night, watched it again today and am really happy with it. It's a live-performance music video for a local solo muso I really enjoyed at a small poetry event recently.

Re: Power of Positivity

@Mazarita Sorry you hard such a hard night Maz, but I'm really glad you came here and listed out some positives as that is exactly what this space is for. I'm sorry you had a difficult interaction with your support worker and I'm really proud of you for handling it and avoiding a nasty exchange as you put it.

Personally I still cannot handle those situations, they trigger my c-ptsd and I dissociate completely, then generally struggle with the fallout of a meltdown afterwards. So it's very understandable and completely identify with the fact you had such a tough night. I hope the day goes better for you as it moves forward.
I am so happy for you that you are finding the mindfulness course with your psychologist healing. And I envy you the National Parks visits, they sound amazing.
Take care of yourself hon, sending you big warm healing hugs xx
