Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

  • So I took part in Topic Tuesday this evening on Physical Activity for Mental Health. I feel motivated so I am going to give up my couch potato ways and start to make an effort to get outside to walk for exercise. I am hoping that I will improve my mental health whilst losing weight and increasing fitness. I am going to keep you updated about my progress here. Feel free to join in - the more the merrier! Maybe we can help motivate each other.

Good efforts @TAB @Oaktree.

It's cold and windy here but I enjoyed my walk, I was well rugged up. Hope the weather is OK on WA... mostly the news has been about the cold snap in Qld and NSW.

You're doing well @TAB .

I'm finding my diet a bit of a challenge. The other day my nutritionist did some goal setting with me and she said waist measurement is more important than weight. We'll see.

Re: Walking for Wellness

@Dimity I did a program decades ago now

it was based on walking

not weighing yourself

using tape measure for waist

and being aware of what and how you eat like healthier options eat slowly etc

I could be eating a lot better but my walking is getting there at least

Re: Walking for Wellness

Yes @TAB this diabetes prevention program is mostly about healthier food options and walking too. It's a free program with a workbook and phone consultns. They said it won't be easy given the medication I'm on... I'll have to be "diligent" to achieve the goals. Still, the walking is getting me out of the house so anything else is a plus.

Re: Walking for Wellness

Accountability not easy @Dimity some people reverse diabetes on those programs though

Re: Walking for Wellness

Dr Michael Mosley has written about it @TAB but I hadn't got started til I got this support. I'm still prediabetic but fingers crossed I can turn it around.
