@BlueBay@Former-Member@Decadian@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@Former-Member@Former-Member@TAB & anyone whose name I forgot or who just may be interested. Had session with my psychologist today. Reflected on what I've learnt and been thinking about re:values and how to recognise those values in others - for friendships, love or work. Discussed how I'm having very little negative self talk and when I do, I'm able to distinguish if it's real - and then I can make changes or if it's false and then I can tell it to bugger off. Discussed I'm gardening more, seeing friends more, putting myself out more and willing to try more. Also discussed routine getting better but still don't have housekeeping routine but thats probably because I don't enjiy it and can be prone to laziness (part of my personality). All really goid. He thinks we should now start delaying our appointments further apart - as I'm coping so much better. Slowly ween (whene) me off him. Bit like a baby off a breast. Weeks ago this would have terrified me. Today I just feel happy about it. It feels right. And I know if I have a struggle I can't manage myself - he will squeeze in an extra appointment for me. So all perfectly goid. Just feels right. Still have to keep doing my exercises relaxation etc. Still need to keep checking I'm on the right track. Still need to work on Judgements (me making judgment as well as others) and my expectations. But I know I can do that. I'm doing it now. I really hope this posts inspires others and lets them know that life can improve and we can learn how to deal with stress in a safe and healthy way. ♥♥♥♥♥
Act dont react is good ... brief ... I dont mean to be longwinded but when I heard and studied personal agency and the difference between reacting and responding ... it was a huge difference takes a while for these little nuggets of wisdom to get passed around I am guessing you got into a few arguments @TAB ... lol Never mind .. you can love a bit too ...

Hello @Appleblossom. Yes reacting and responding are two different things. One being healthier than the other. As a teen I would react. I love learning all you guys have to offer. I just don't stop learning. How are you @Appleblossom?

Started reading 2 books @utopia. Anxiety free, drug Free, good so far. Haven't read much of Mind over Mood yet, sounds good. Both are workbooks as well. 😀

@Former-Member. When I go to the library, I generally grab fiction. Occasionally something on Aboriginal Culture and History (a passion of mine). Only rarely will I get what are termed 'self help books'. Because mh therapist wanted to focus on CBT - I had to send the book back to the library on ACT - as I was getting too confused. And some days when things are hard, I need a little fiction to enjoy

I too prefer fiction for relaxation. It's a wonderful way to escape into another world, time and space.
Self help books have their place but I do look carefully at what qualifications the writer has to be writing such books.
When I'm lookinnng for reliable sources of knowledge I read academic papers that have been peer reviewed and preferably replicated by other researchers. I can spend countless hours at the uni library.
This weekend I'll be reading light hearted, easy to read novels. Nothing too heavy. Sunday though I'll be doing a lot of research in preparation for these meetings next week.

Re: Great session with psychologist
I totally understand @utopia. I stopped reading self help books for a long time. Just started again recently. I don't usually read the whole book, just the helpful bits. Then I have a long break. Otherwise I get "overload". Night night. 😊😴🌙🌹
