Great session with psychologist

Great session with psychologist

@BlueBay @Former-Member @Decadian @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member @Former-Member @TAB & anyone whose name I forgot or who just may be interested.
Had session with my psychologist today. Reflected on what I've learnt and been thinking about re:values and how to recognise those values in others - for friendships, love or work. Discussed how I'm having very little negative self talk and when I do, I'm able to distinguish if it's real - and then I can make changes or if it's false and then I can tell it to bugger off.
Discussed I'm gardening more, seeing friends more, putting myself out more and willing to try more. Also discussed routine getting better but still don't have housekeeping routine but thats probably because I don't enjiy it and can be prone to laziness (part of my personality).
All really goid. He thinks we should now start delaying our appointments further apart - as I'm coping so much better. Slowly ween (whene) me off him. Bit like a baby off a breast.
Weeks ago this would have terrified me.
Today I just feel happy about it. It feels right. And I know if I have a struggle I can't manage myself - he will squeeze in an extra appointment for me.
So all perfectly goid. Just feels right.
Still have to keep doing my exercises relaxation etc. Still need to keep checking I'm on the right track. Still need to work on Judgements (me making judgment as well as others) and my expectations. But I know I can do that. I'm doing it now.
I really hope this posts inspires others and lets them know that life can improve and we can learn how to deal with stress in a safe and healthy way.

@TAB. We can't do much about those that don't want contact with us. But we - YOU - can keep in contact with those young nephews. Each of us has something good to offer. I'm sure they see your humour and sense of fun. They are good qualities to have.
@Former-Member. Yep I think you may have over done it. But yyou're taking it easy now, which is great.
Dovyou know, if I happen to have money to buy myself ckothes - there is NOTHING I like in the shops. When I'm poor and can only window shop - there are heaps of things I like and would love to buy. Isn't that always the way.
Driving my boy to his dads in Melbourne tomorrow after doctors appointment for another script - will run out otherwise & won't be doing that again after the other weekend.
So I'll be driving for a bit under 5 hours. Have been invited to a friends place tomorrow night. But too hard to commit to, when I'm notsure how iI'll feel after theclong drive.
Oh and as usual I will probably ignore the housework and read a book. Looks like the weekend is going to be a wet one. Praying we don't get flooding like we did from last months rain

Re: Great session with psychologist

It's been a few steps forward this week, thank goodness. Making a bit of an effort to re connect with friends again. (some I will be gladly leaving behind), but there are a few that I want to reconnect with. Haven't felt up to it until now. Having coffee the other day with an old friend was really enjoyable. I know I have to make the effort, but it is worth it. It's good to have things to look forward to that's for sure.

Would love to go somewhere over the school holidays, hope I can arrange something without stressing out, lol. @TAB @utopia

@Former-Member. It's great to start spending time with old friends. So glad you are making the effort. Yes it is worth it. I think friends / aquaintences are like clothes. Some just don't fit anymore and some just no longer appeal. And it is spring - so time for a spring clean out. I love that you are doing that. It will make more room for new friends.

Re: Great session with psychologist

Gosh! that's alot of driving @utopia Yes, it will be amazing if you have the energy to go out that night as well. Yes, I have overdone things, that's what I usually do, haha! But I need to learn not to be discouraged when I need a rest day. Hate wasting time. I've wasted so much time. I keep having to remind myself that I have been through alot of traumas all through my life and it's going to take time to heal. I do feel a bit better since seeing the psychologist, have had 3 visits now.

@TAB My friend is a psychiatrist and has just started her own business. I haven't felt well enough to stay in touch with friends for quite a while, so I was very pleased that she invited us to her opening next weekend. It's been a good week regarding re connecting. I wish I could see her for counselling, she is such a lovely caring person, but she doesn't see family or friends for psychiatry.

@TAB. Act don't react. I love that. It can apply to all parts of our life. And I agree - 1 true friend is better than lots of false friends.
