Good Morning/Afternoon
Hello @Itsjustme1 .
Noticed your reply to TAB, this morning on the "RE: Good Morning!" thread.
“To be honest I'm a bit down, realising there's a voice in my head and has been since I was young. And preparing to talk to the psych. and open up about what diagnosis might be. I've just babbled on about whatever without being able to give him the proper symptoms for about 5 years. But besides that I know I should be happy.”
I thought I might share a few thoughts with you, that I hope may be appropriate, relevant and helpful.
It sounds like you are coming to grips with issues, that you may previously have thought of as “normal”, and now realising that they are part of what you are needing to deal with.
We often do present information about our past to psych. people and counsellors, in the hope that they can untangle the information and make some sense of it. The extension of that is, hopefully, symptom identification, diagnosis and subsequently, resources, medication and, or guidance through the issues to achieve a better life in front of us.
It seems, you may be becoming aware, that the issues that you are now facing and addressing, have existed “and has been since I was young”. In which case, you may feel some relief, that more recent activities and events, may have precipitated, but, are likely not to have caused those difficulties.
We, as individuals, are not able, or likely to intuitively know, psychological deviations and symptoms for each MI. If we could, we would most certainly heal ourselves. Since we simply know expressions, actions, thoughts etc., as our life, and are not accustomed or trained, to think of them in terms of classifying those life actions, etc., as symptoms, it is understandable that we rely on someone else, preferably qualified, to make the appropriate distinctions, and be able to identify, sift and separate symptoms from ordinary life experience. This can be a distressing process, for a number of reasons, from which, however, we hope to improve our functionality and positive rewards and happiness in and from life.
My story is similar, in that I am again speaking with a counsellor, and hoping that together, we can do a bit more untangling. I am at the 'other end of life', and still working at making this the best life that I can live. So, admiration to you for your work, at this stage of your life.
I really hope that the process, for you, is one of awareness, growth and development that gives you knowledge and skills, that you can use and apply in your future endeavours.
With My Very Best Wishes
HenryX
