Daily Achievements!

Daily Achievements!

Hi forum friends! I've decided to start a new thread on Daily Achievements because I suffer from depression as one of my mental illness and that means it's often hard for me to remind myself that I do actually things in my day, no matter how small they may be. I thought forumites could post here a daily achievement or 2 so we can remind ourselves that we have done something good each day. It can be as big or as small as you like. Just as long as what you did makes you proud and happy.

I'm tagging @roses @Bow @Shaz51 @BPDSurvivor @saltandpepper @Daisydreamer @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @TideisTurning @Former-Member @frog @Sans911 @outlander

in case you might be interested as well as anyone else who wants to join in!

So, to get this discussion started, I'll post my achievements today which are:

- I had a gorgeous cup of tea which helped me deal with some anxiety I was experiencing;

- I paid my car registration which was due today.

See what I mean about achievements? Mine may seem small or irrelevant to some people but to me, because I have depression, these are actually major in the scheme of my life. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

Re: Daily Achievements!

@Shaz51 I feed the wild birds every evening. Started doing it during a bad drought about 6 years ago when there was no feed around for them. We have a crow with a bad wing (but he can still fly) called Wingy, his partner Mrs Wingy, a sparrow called Charlie who when he's in the mood will take food from my hand, Charlie's other sparrow friends, rainbow lorikeets, musk lorikeets, spotted neck turtle doves, rosellas and red rumped parrots. We also get young magpies every year.
We have several feed dishes hung up around the garden with wild seed, budgie seed & sunflower seed and hang a large seed tower off our nectarine tree. Plus we have several water dishes and bird baths.
They are such amazing little creatures all with their own distinct personalities. You can sit and watch them for hours. Oh they also get broken up Anzac or Arrowroot biscuits as a treat. They are spoilt, lol.

Re: Daily Achievements!

when I was a kid on farm a wedge tail eagle with a broken wing stopped off around farm buildings. We fed it dog food and a couple weeks later it flew off again @bipolarbunny

Re: Daily Achievements!

@TAB Oh Wedged Tailed eagles are magnificent birds. I visited a bird sanctuary in Qld once and they had a bird of prey display. I got to pat one, and took some pics, they are stunning and huge up close.

@Adge Mostly we get rosellas, rainbow & musk lorikeets, red rumped parrots, magpies, and we have a crow & his "wife" who we feed daily out of their own special bowl, and I have a little sparrow buddy called Charlie who is fearless and takes food out of my hand. We get the usual amount of sparrows, doves, wall eyes, finches, oh and in spring we get fairy wrens too. I have taken pics, so I'll see if I can find some to upload sometime.

Re: Daily Achievements!

@bipolarbunny, we get a lot of birds hanging around near our place, because we're close to a creek. Currawongs, kookaburras, magpies, ravens, wattlebirds, green parrots, galahs, cockatoos, wood ducks, there's a local heron that files over our place, silvereyes, New Holland Honeyeaters, occasional Blue Wrens, Grey Fantails. There's probably others I've forgotten. And ferals like sparrows and blackbirds. I don't feed them, but some of them like hanging around when I'm in the garden in case I disturb some tasty grubs for them. Magpies are the friendliest, but this year a Grey Fantail has decided that I'm good company, and he'll hang around and chirp at me from a nearby tree.

My achievements today...

1- Did a load of washing. Didn't get it hung out, that can happen tomorrow.
2- Some garden stuff. Repotted a few plants, pulled up some weeds for the chook, bunny and guinea pig.
3- Trip into nearby rural city with Hubby to buy some materials to fix a leaky gutter before it rains tomorrow. And found a few plants while there. And bought some groceries. (Not at the hardware shop...)
4- Actual gutter fixing was mostly Hubby's hard work, but I pulled up more weeds and broke up some kindling nearby so I could hold the ladder, climb up to pass tools to him, find extra tools as needed etc. Oh, and I also managed to perform a "controlled descent" of a branch that had died on a tree. Not too huge, but big enough and weakened enough that an "uncontrolled descent" could have done damage.
5- Three cooked meals and some of the washing up. Dinner was a big batch so that I could freeze some for another time.
