Daily Achievements!

Daily Achievements!

Hi forum friends! I've decided to start a new thread on Daily Achievements because I suffer from depression as one of my mental illness and that means it's often hard for me to remind myself that I do actually things in my day, no matter how small they may be. I thought forumites could post here a daily achievement or 2 so we can remind ourselves that we have done something good each day. It can be as big or as small as you like. Just as long as what you did makes you proud and happy.

I'm tagging @roses @Bow @Shaz51 @BPDSurvivor @saltandpepper @Daisydreamer @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @TideisTurning @Former-Member @frog @Sans911 @outlander

in case you might be interested as well as anyone else who wants to join in!

So, to get this discussion started, I'll post my achievements today which are:

- I had a gorgeous cup of tea which helped me deal with some anxiety I was experiencing;

- I paid my car registration which was due today.

See what I mean about achievements? Mine may seem small or irrelevant to some people but to me, because I have depression, these are actually major in the scheme of my life. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

Re: Daily Achievements!

That's interesting re chi @Former-Member . I tend to shut down ruminating by doomscrolling but it's enervating. I can't manage a to-do list atm but aim for blocks of time away from the phone.

Whatever works.

Re: Daily Achievements!

So I managed to get out of bed and have a shower today and am planning a much needed trip into town tomorrow. Let's hope I get there...

Re: Daily Achievements!

💪 @RedHorse lol .. Ive had an ordinary week .
not going into details.
just sprayed shower w spray finally bought.. didn't have to brush after leaving it for a few minutes! .. ok could have left shower 🚿 a bit longer afterwards I turned it into Auschwitz ..

there were a few other things I managed. Ok new sheets and dropped good quilt at drycleaners

Hope there is something good in all your days

At best might get newspaper, go for a walk and get something nice to eat think. Really need to get into gear after nothing week tho. Gets a bit surreal sitting in caravan all day . The walks and near daily trips to shop and ok small wins like shower cleaner hold it together. Without that its like is this a Bad Dream ..

Hiya @TAB

I didn't manage to get out of bed for long yesterday but am just back from town today. Better late than never. The shelves were mostly bare, no toilet paper, so am thinking people are starting to panic again, oh and $12 for a cauliflower 😲

It sounds like you might be suffering from cabin fever and I can totally relate. You're getting things done though, bit by bit and you should be getting some good sleep with the new bedding arrangements.

I hope the weekend papers provide a bit of a distraction for you and you have something nice to eat tonight.

Take care,

Re: Daily Achievements!

Thankyou. @RedHorse nice of you to say that and pretty much on the money w 'cabin fever' ..

$10 toothpaste was my 'thing ' today. Found $6 one lol.
well Done with your trip into town. Not been sleeping well, not bedding related.
i would not pay $12 for a cabbage.

Re: Daily Achievements!

$6 toothpaste is a bit rich @TAB but better than $10 I suppose. And you've got to have it.

Another noteworthy thing at shops, chocolate bars and potato chips were all on special... I invested in some Snickers bars against my better judgement and am two down already and feel a bit sick.

Still, I am pleased I got into town today after so long procrastinating. Thanks for your support.

I hope your sleep improves.

Take care,

Re: Daily Achievements!

Great idea @Judi9877,

This is my first post in here as a newbie. I am starting my journey with taking some real, long term action after years of sporadic on-and-off-again efforts to deal with my Anxiety, Depression and Alcohol Addiction.

I love the site and have been reading for the last couple of days and getting a lot out of it.

Two things I achieved today:

1) I booked an appointment with a Psychologist for later this week

2) I have committed to making myself do 10 push-ups every time those little Anxiety or Alcohol sparks pop into my mind. A novel way to train myself out of unhelpful thoughts and get some extra exercise. (Incidentally, have done 80 push-ups already today)

Re: Daily Achievements!

Hi @BenjiBoy I read that having a shower or eating can work as well with impulses I spent 2 hours on a job application today . Not done one in a long time so that didnt help.

Hi @BenjiBoy,

Welcome to the forums! My name is FloatingFeather and I am one of the peer support workers at SANE. It is great to have you onboard and I know that you in good company. We have some amazing forum members who are very supportive and have a lot of life experience and wisdom.

I love your reference to focusing on `some real term action'. I can see you are already being proactive in your commitment to positive action!

What a great idea to do push ups to help combat your thoughts about anxiety / alcohol - it's a win win and you will be getting fitter in process :).

We are really happy to have you here @BenjiBoy. I look forward to seeing you on the forums and reading what others have to say.

Best wishes,

FloatingFeather
