Daily Achievements!

Daily Achievements!

Hi forum friends! I've decided to start a new thread on Daily Achievements because I suffer from depression as one of my mental illness and that means it's often hard for me to remind myself that I do actually things in my day, no matter how small they may be. I thought forumites could post here a daily achievement or 2 so we can remind ourselves that we have done something good each day. It can be as big or as small as you like. Just as long as what you did makes you proud and happy.

I'm tagging @roses @Bow @Shaz51 @BPDSurvivor @saltandpepper @Daisydreamer @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @TideisTurning @Former-Member @frog @Sans911 @outlander

in case you might be interested as well as anyone else who wants to join in!

So, to get this discussion started, I'll post my achievements today which are:

- I had a gorgeous cup of tea which helped me deal with some anxiety I was experiencing;

- I paid my car registration which was due today.

See what I mean about achievements? Mine may seem small or irrelevant to some people but to me, because I have depression, these are actually major in the scheme of my life. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

Re: Daily Achievements!

Today I slept till 4 pm, got out of bed socialised with a couple of people had something to eat then shower and now bed again. Tonight not feeling so sic (alergy issues) so no meds for that as I have to take them sparingly, will read for a while then sleep. Must wake up at 7 am in the morning and stay awake as I have to go out for a bit, come home for an appointment (home visit), then go out to buy lunch and bring it back home. Tomorrow arvo I'll do a bit more housework, have a long hot shower as showers are very soothing for me, then read my books again... I have a big lot of them lol! Praying that my alergies don't get really bad as I don't want to call the ambulance and spend another week in the hospital when I'd rather deal with my health needs at home. Hoping my doctor will accept this decision from me next week — I guess I'll find out then! Luckily my GP is very caring and very strict yet he can be really forgiving and lenient as well based on individual assessment and special needs (disability). I guess this gives me enough hope to stay safe yay!!! For now.
@Meowmy I'm glad you're all right! It's always good to keep a structured routine while in isolation.
@DogMan79 it's good you're keeping up with doctor's appointments and it's good your doctors are so friendly and caring!
@Judi9877 I hope you're doing well with Uni.
@LostAngel it's good you're plodding along nicely... It's great when life gives you a smooth run!
Everyone else have a good night!

Re: Daily Achievements!

Hey all!
Early Thursday morning here, as I had a huge sleep all of yesterday and last night. So my body is feeling a lot better and my mental health has improved a little.
I need to make phone calls today as my home visit didn't eventuate. I also found out that my support wkrs are unanimous about keeping my care treatments away from the hospital (long story). I also found out that my self-harm habits need to be treated to stop them as there is a lot more questions than answers and nobody who cares for me wants to live with unresolved conflict that can be fixed if I stay comfortable enough to work through them (using meds and therapy techniques) to stay safe and calm. This means I now have to take some responsibility to advocate for myself rather than let things go wrong which makes everybody else's job harder.
This aside, my achievements are to make phone calls, keep my Hershey's chocolates with me so I can eat them so I won't get overly upset. I'll make coffee and breakfast before I make the phone calls. After this, prepare lunch. Then read. Then SANE Helpline (I really like the people there!) Then forums. Afternoon tea. More reading. Go out for a walk when not too hot, I just have to do it lol! Remind myself that goodness always outweighs evil and there are a lot of supporters! Then write down my arrangements to make with support wkrs so they know how to help me deal with stress and depressive episodes better. A bit more housework to do. Then dinner. Desert, shower, then bed.
This is a big list "i know, but I've made my achievements easy ones, not really difficult. It's the phone calls I have to pull myself through, I can't leave things for other people to fix for me every time. I need to toughen up a bit... Ha ha ha, this is easier said than done but I have to try! As for everyone else, have a great day and will be back here throughout today as needed. XXX!

Hello @Former-Member

and other members visiting this thread

Your descriptions of both self awareness and self determination seem admirable and positive. The way that you have planned your day adds the element of structure to give a firm track on which to run. And you have also considered how you will deal with any disturbances or instability. From your description, it appears to me that you are taking responsibility for your part in your progress and development.

I think that your approach is among the best descriptions that I have seen here on the site. As you may be aware, I am dealing with a number of issues, and it is reassuring for me to see an example such as yours. Thank you.

With Best Wishes

Re: Daily Achievements!

@HenryX thanks, it's nice to know that I'm considered positive and self-aware. I also think despite your issues, that you show resilience and self-determination and I hope you keep that up! My next big achievement is getting the NDIS to support me appropriately. I've never had good NDIS support. I have been dismissed, brushed aside, invalidated, gaslighted, you name it. It has happened. I have so many reasons for cutting myself off of the NDIS but no support company can work without NDIS funding, so I either deal with the NDIS or go without support services. With the rate things are going, I'm better off just living at home with no support services because the NDIS has severely restricted what I can and can't do anyway, without my consent. So many inhumane human rights violations on the part of the NDIS.

Re: Daily Achievements!

Hi @Former-Member

Thanks for your reply. I hear what you are saying about access to services. It's all very well having them, but when the complex nature of gaining access to them adds to already existing issues, the difficulties can be very daunting. I haven't sought assistance through that avenue but hear of the difficulties that others face in accessing the funding for services.

I restate my comments about admiring the way that you are dealing with the issues and wish you well towards your goals.

With Best Wishes
