Daily Achievements!

Daily Achievements!

Hi forum friends! I've decided to start a new thread on Daily Achievements because I suffer from depression as one of my mental illness and that means it's often hard for me to remind myself that I do actually things in my day, no matter how small they may be. I thought forumites could post here a daily achievement or 2 so we can remind ourselves that we have done something good each day. It can be as big or as small as you like. Just as long as what you did makes you proud and happy.

I'm tagging @roses @Bow @Shaz51 @BPDSurvivor @saltandpepper @Daisydreamer @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @TideisTurning @Former-Member @frog @Sans911 @outlander

in case you might be interested as well as anyone else who wants to join in!

So, to get this discussion started, I'll post my achievements today which are:

- I had a gorgeous cup of tea which helped me deal with some anxiety I was experiencing;

- I paid my car registration which was due today.

See what I mean about achievements? Mine may seem small or irrelevant to some people but to me, because I have depression, these are actually major in the scheme of my life. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

Re: Daily Achievements!

@TAB and @Dimity I'm just so glad I've got a better support network now. And I've got you guys on the forums now too. Thanks to all of you and my doctors and support staff, my energy is coming back and I'm starting to enjoy waking up in the mornings. Now I just need to look at medical options to keep my good streak going for a long time lol!

I'm glad you're feeling better and more confident @Former-Member it's good to see. I hope with your increased energy you're also getting enough sleep... I'm bipolar so it can be either a feast or a famine sleepwise...

Looking forward to a day of achievements

Dimity

Re: Daily Achievements!

Hey @Shaz51 and all

The only thing I've acheived so far today was a negative RAT result 🙂

Will try and go for a walk later...but it is getting rather hot and I'm not 100%. Hence the test

Have a good day everybody!

Re: Daily Achievements!

hey @Dimity I kept making the evening meal as an anchor through my worst times.

It also gave me the metaphor of things working away on the back burner.

I am a list person, and there are usually 1 or 2 on the kitchen bench (food and jobs). Sometimes lists of goals help me, sometimes they annoy me and send me back to when I was a public servant and found extra record keeping for management interfered with getting things done. So sometimes I go organic. When I began gardening it was an effort, but then as I began to get into it, I would get ideas while in bed and sometimes I would just give in to the impulse and get up, 'do the job" or run to kitchen and add it to list, as I was afraid I might forget a good idea.

My OT is becoming a little goals obsessed and I am needing more space from that as I need to get to the organic deep intuitive part of me. I lived a long time ticking off goals, even like a soldier or a robot because raising kids so much had to be done. She is very young and has supportive family and still lives at home. I feel it is ridiculous for a person who has still not achieved much in life to be holding me accountable. Yes she did a longish degree, but no more than me, and she is paid a lot and her company charges NDIS a lot. so I am going on an OT diet.

Important things I have achieved on regular basis:

1. Daily acitivity outside include various gardenings and physio. Did Tai Chi walking yesterday.

2. 99% healthy meals.

3. Managed ongoing family crises without excessive prn and keeping meds low.

4. Sleep cycle not too bad, but natural and I do get up when my whirling head has settled enough so that I am not carrying around a head in a cloud of unsorted memories.

5. Slowly sorting through memories and reactions, responses and consequences.

6. Head and neck pain managed.

7. A little music daily, Could be more, but it is what it is.

8. Household loosely managed with a little help from cleaner once per month and gardener once per year.

9. Finally feeling I am worth having a decent home and clothes. Also realising that my sense of gratitude about it is still modest, as most live in bigger places, but mine has class even if in a poorer part of town.

10. Work still to do on deep shame feelings and forms of self sabotage.

Hey @Judi9877 @Shaz51 @Former-Member

Re: Daily Achievements!

@Appleblossom I'm a listmaker too. It soothes an overbusy mind and prompts a sluggish one.

Well done on all your achievements. It sounds as though you're finding safe harbour after weathering many storms.

Therapists all come with their own baggage - mine gave as an example of a life goal "owning a red car". I don't drive (half blind) and am not materialistic. I'm sure she meant well.

Today was an extraordinary day for me. I was up at 6am, washed/cleaned/decluttered/shopped/repotted a potplant/started my 5:2 diet. I'm exhausted. I hope to start shifting my sleep cycle soon rather than reverting to type.

Greetings and best wishes to all forumites passing through

Dimity
