@Shaz51 new meds seem to be okay. No weight loss yet. Mood seems to be a tag better. Hood luck to Mr Shaz.

Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

Hi @Shaz51

I was told by my pdoc that the meds stop the feeling of fullness so I can keep on eating after I am really full. I am trying to keep my portion size moderate and no second helpings. You may remember that I'm reducing my meds at the moment and it has reduced my appetite a bit and I've also lost a few kgs but not a big difference in weio. I think a moderate diet will be key for me to lose the weight. And exercise I suppose if I can get motivated... Anyway I hope that helps

@Meowmy Heya ...

Made me smile ..

@Shaz51 Remember back 4-5 years ago when I was talking about keto diet ... as my son's attempot to keep weight gain from meds at bay .... Meds mess with metabolism ... so maybe it needs more to counteract the effects ...

Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

Hi @Shaz51 I don't take any medication. But I have been on all sorts in the past and have put weight on very quickly. I didn't notice it my self as I wasn't well but I had to reduce my intake of food and go for walks. Sorry I can't be of much help. I think Mr Shaz needs to discuss this with his GP. Take care 🌺🌻

Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

@Shaz51 Mr S puts on weight from having no appetite through the day and then eating biscuits and chocolate in bed until 2 in the morning.

My son is currently walking to and from the gym.

I love him so much and he has suffered a great deal from Boplar meds. It has been heartbreaking to watch him stack on the weight and then struggle, heroically, with it for 7 years.

It is a significant side effect ... not just being a little fatty.

Well done to your son @Appleblossom 💙 I have said before that we need to have more research into medication for mental health. I don't think there has been anything new since the 50's. This is why they have to 'tweek'

Thank you very much @Former-Member

I am very wary of tendencies to blame person diagnosed with extra pressures.

Today in joint session, his therapist told me he liked my son, and that he is a good man.

Son is still out. So minor stress on top of stressful week. Mostly he has done the RIGHT THING.

We should not had to have worked as hard as we have, and not had the dignity of respect while employed.

I also have problems with my meds and weight gain. I haven't been able to control it but I haven't done all I can either. I could join a gym for example, not sure if thats an option for Mr Shaz. Regarding going off meds depends how stable he feels on his current meds. I personally have been relatively well for 4 years now and finally accepted for myself that I have to stay on my meds as I don't like the alternative including hospital stays and everything else that comes with it. How does Mr Shaz think about that? Does his medication help him in staying well?
