Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

Hey @Shaz51 @Captain24 @Dimity @pinklollipop15 and all who read this thread ...

I rarely identified as bipolar but current pdoc mentioned it as a possibility, but he knows and allows for my philosophical approaches ...

@Delicatessen I loved that you wrote this:

"I’m starting to be advised by my psychiatrist that my various eccentric acids are not residual bipolar. Rather new pieces of me are now coming to the fore. So I may just be facing new dimensions of me (heaven help us!) that have been waiting to pop out."

I like the openness, humour, surprise and curiosity ... I am finding new bits of me too. It can be intriguing and maybe as @Dimity 's mentioned, mellowing helps ...

I was a bit low but bouncing back it seems.

Cheers All

It's great if you're on the upswing @Appleblossom . Personally I don't set much store on diagnoses - perhaps they're descriptive and based on pattern recognition but unless they're predictive re what helps they're not very useful IMHO. I reckon I'm primarily of melancholic humour https://www.nlm.nih.gov/exhibition/shakespeare-and-the-four-humors/index.html but poor old Hippocrates has been gone a while and there are newer fangled explanations.

Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

Sorry, I still havnt worked out how to start a new thread. I just want to know what people here think of the following situation:

The last few years we have always lived with children of ours. I thought its so help them financially, to help us financially, to help with child care etc. We are just about to move again and I say to my husband I want to go out on our own with him. He says: he can't live alone with me cause of my illness. Too hard. So I shrunk from being a lovable partner to an appendage. He adds own 90 percent of marriages with one person with bipolar don't work out anyway. I thought I had been quite well until a recent hospital admission but well again since. So I have been in a bit of a daze last 3 days. Taking lots of sleeping pills to stop my dark thoughts about this. Keeping busy in the day. Today x mas family is asleep cause they are sick. I am holding myself together, doing some knitting. What do the forumites think? Is this a life? I suppose it's doable. Just coming along for the ride. Nobody would take me serious anyway...

Hugs @Olga. I have no advice (I'm single) but I hear how demoralising it must feel to be denigrated for your condition. And multi generational living must present challenges especially if the home isn't designed for it.

Please take care, being stressed and not sleeping well takes a toll.

Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

Thank you my friend. You put it really well into words. I start taking consolation in the thought that I don't have to be around for all this stuff but I know this is not the right way to think. I really don't want to go down this spiral again. So I feel conflicted in what to think. Decided to put those dark thoughts on hold and see what happens. Self esteem about zero. I know I don't make much sense. Hope you are travelling okay.

@Olga my friend sitting with you. And I hope you and your family are better tomorrow, it's hard for little ones to be ill at Xmas.

I'm travelling OK thanks, I weathered the festive season build up and it turned out OK.
