@Shaz51

I never thought I'd be pleased to have to go back to work, but three weeks at home was a week to long with him this year. We did not leave the house, it's too scary out there. His sons are still out and about a great deal so I've had to ask that they don't visit for a while. Luckily he agrees with me.

I'm also lucky there are only four people where I work and we each have separate offices, even so, one of us (25%) are out with Covid.

I hope you and Mr Shaz are travelling ok.

Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

Hi @Shaz51 thanks for the tag. You have so much to balance my dear friend.

@Dimityyou have reminded me to keep taking small steps in the direction of better physical health. In the last few months I have had a raft of illness and an influx of medications and treatments. I'm grateful I have access to these things, but it has been one thing after another. I am certain that it is the culmination of 2 years of unrelenting and extreme stress.

The discussion about meditation, mindfulness, the monitization of those things is really interesting @Appleblossom @HenryX @Bunniekins. I recently abandoned my meditation apps. I had one for years, and was trying another over the past 6 months or so. I have practiced some form of meditation for around 10 years, but am having a pause, if not abandoning the path. Strangely, the thing that really stopped me in my tracks was a course - very reputable - MBSR. Even setting aside the price tag, it a was not good for me at all.

Hi @SJT63

Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

Sorry you did not have a good experience with MBSR. @frog Good to give it a rest if it is not working.

The problem with a lot of psychological therapies ... is that they say success depends on what you put into it ... and effort ... and resistance is individual's problem, which can lead both to trying too hard and shame. Which can make some of it harmless if applied in wrong way, at wrong time or to patient who for whatever reason it is not a good fit.

I think it comes closer to the fact ... that people are unique on unique journeys, and endless classes and techniques do not replace the personal touch. Face to face does not always equal personal.

I have paid a little, but mostly on a shoestring.

Go gently with so many added health issues.

I was getting obssessed with my heart, so lots of calm daily activity helps me.

Re: Let`s talk about Bipolar

hello @frog thanks for responding. I'm sorry the mbsr course was so off-putting. I googled it and it sounds quite intense, Your own practice must have been positive though to have stayed with it for 10 years. Working through different sorts of health issues can be challenging and complicated and bad stress is both a cause and result so it's a vicious circle. I'm still looking for answers and trying to untangle my MI from physical issues too.
