Let's talk DID and dissociation

Let's talk DID and dissociation

Hello all

@Former-Member, @Bellarose75, @BraveOne, @Nyx, @Fluttershy1, @Maggie, @Grace20212, @NoOne, @MySunrise, @Unlonely1, @destructive, @Lemonjuice and we are sure there are others who have DID or dissociation disorders but we haven't interacted with them so feel free to add others we missed.

We noticed that there is a lot of threads popping up about DID and decided that maybe having a thread we can all chat on and ask questions and give advice to each other would be good.

We thought we would start off by explaing who we are.

We call ourselves the dragon system.

Host/main/core goes by our username due to guidelines but the rest of us are happy to say our names it also helps people know who's responding.

Here is a list of all of us that we as a working system is aware of.

So I'm going to split it up into 3 groups, littles (0-10), middles (11-17) and bigs (18+).

So my littles are :

Kelly, 4, mute and trauma holder, Eshy, main

Sarah, 6, main

Strudle, 5, wolf shapeshifter, main

Brandon

Bianca

Brittney, 7, the BBB triplets

Sienna, 8, prefers CC

Dana, 4, trauma holder, AP

Leana, 6, trauma holder, AP

Cameron, 8, trauma holder

Kelsey, 5, trauma holder

Uunala, 4, trauma holder, Eshy

Stacey, 10

Tessa, 9, FS Trauma holder

My middles are:

Steph, 15, sporty, gender fluid

Daisy, 13, Artistic

Macey, 12, smart, Eshy

Repunzel, 16/17, Fictive

Elsie, 17, littles helper

Erin, 15, trauma holder, Sh, main

Iris, 11, positive empath, littles caretaker, main

Chloe, 14, littles caretaker, clean freak (possibly ocd)

Mermaid Princess, 15/17, unknown language

Zayella, 15, sad/grief empath, inner world protector

Casey, 13, troublesome, sh

Evie, 15/16, fictive

My bigs are:

Sapphire,18, wolf shapeshifter, system protector, main

Harmony, 30, protector, main

Honey, 19, sexual

Grant, age Slider, 18-25,

Lana, 20, negative empath

Holly, age unknown, demon, system persecutor, is a main but currently locked away

Twilight, age unknown, dragon, gatekeeper

We know not all people with DID have an inner world but we do. Host created inner world as an escape when she was 9 and it has become a major part of our system. For anyone wondering twilights role as gatekeeper is literally that our inner world is surrounded by a brick wall and has a large gate outside that is a giant Forrest and twilight keeps the bad out. Holly came before twilight did so it's probably the only reason she made it in.

We also have C-PTSD, anxiety, depression, social anxiety, and panic disorder. Host is severe asthmatic as well which we suppose makes us all asthmatic.

Anyway hope you like the idea of this thread and we are happy to chat anytime but we do apologize if we don't always answer straight away

Thanks

Harmony/babydragon

Re: Let's talk DID and dissociation

@BraveOne

I'm wondering how to help the one who is angry? I think it's actually fear making them angry. I want to help them let go of the anger but our whole life they have thought that it's their role to hold onto the anger. I wonder has anyone helped an internal part (alter etc) change roles and let go of what's hurting them?

@BraveOne @Former-Member @Unlonely1 @destructive @Fluttershy1 i think I am functioning worse than I was before I found out able my internal system. I think I'm all yucky and mean.

Re: Let's talk DID and dissociation

hey y'all, today we had our first therapy session since august 2020. And our therapist seems unprofessional and doesn't seem to know what DID is. We're kinda scared about continuing therapy.

@Former-Member Oh wow that sounds really tough. Did you point them to some good resources?

When do you seem them again? I suppose you'll find out how committed they are to supporting you if they do their research in the meantime.
I hope you were able to do some self care afterwards as that sounds like a huge trigger for a letdown, if that makes sense.

Hello everyone

@Unlonely1 are you talking about the states as in Australia or the state of mind they are in 😂 😉

Is it still raining outside for everyone? Do you like the rain? I love the rain! I like not having to go anywhere. Although that said, we went 3 places today because of the children and their activities.

Re: Let's talk DID and dissociation

Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom @BraveOne I like the idea of talking more generally, when I can talk at all. Unfortunately it is about harming the body that I don't want so I kind of need to to get help but seems to make it worse. And I really can't seem to figure out why I can't talk. how long have you been figuring all this out? You have lots of good knowledge/ideas

@MySunrise i hope you had an ok day. Sounds like your morning was a bit disorienting.

@Unlonely1 I hear you on the wanting to just sleep. This can all be a bit much to say the least

@Former-Member do you have to stay with that T? Sometimes it's hard to know but I think we dismiss our gut feelings sometimes when maybe they're saying something important .

@Bellarose75 how are you? I hope you e had a good day

Re: Let's talk DID and dissociation

@destructivegood to hear what im saying has been helpful.

yes alters that hurt the body are in so much pain and finding other strategies to deal with it so important. this is not an overnight change. developing the relationship insdie Ive found to be key : listening , understanding feeling compassionate towards them. speaking kindly to them... consistently builds this. takes time to develop the relationship and safety . If its a child or teenage or young person alter then I may approach them differently around how they get the world. what their interests and likes are or discover what their role is in life .

Emotions really like to move and have expression so one thing I have at home is a creative cupboard where there are arts materials that everyone can access . Ive found teenage alters like music and creating playlists so they have access to a streaming music app . An older lady alter has a CD player for her music... ( she cant do computers) we find ways to have space for everyone to be .

Ive been figuring this out for over 20 biological years as an adult when I showed up one day trying to live my life that many others internally were living.I learnt to observe and notice well .

Re: Let's talk DID and dissociation

@MySunriseLately Ive been practicing being with emotions and alters and noticing them like being with the anger and not trying to change it however understanding its purpose . The disassociation has an intelligent function , Anger does need safe spaces of expression and often there are things to be spoken to certain people which can be done without confronting people in the world directly. Yes anger often does mask other emotions however understanding what they are really angry about is a step. Validating it verbally , compasssionately. Ive realised if I have an alter that is holding one emotion like anger then if Im daring enough to feel the anger its a step towards a healthier way of being ( even for a few moments) so rather than having a wired up system that defaults to dissasociation I can create new pathways for feelings .
