My daughter attempted suicide

My daughter attempted suicide

I have just returned from my local hospital after watching my daughter having four seizures and nearly losing her life due to taking too many anti depressants. We found out that she had been treated abusively by her boyfriend, recently had a miscarriage and he left her for dead. It pushed her over the edge.
The doctors told us it's a miracle she is alive due to the huge amount of drugs she took. Each seizure she went blue and frothed of the mouth. Traumatising to watch to say the least - I really thought I lost her. The doctors have detained (scheduled) her under the mental health ward of the hospital under the mental health act. Now hopefully it will give her the time and proper help to heal. The staff, nurses and doctors have been wonderful and compassionate.
My daughter hugged me as I left this evening saying sorry for what she put me through.
I would like to say to anyone who suffers low self esteem and is in a abusive relationship to never put up with it. You deserve better and no one is worth harming yourself over.
I think I am still in shock but must pull myself together to support my daughter through this. A mammoth task. Any moral support right now or advice from anyone else who has suffered similarly or not would be appreciated. If I could have but one wish in my life right now it would be to see my daughter heal, whole within herself, happy and loved. That's all I want in this life now.

Hello dear @Former-Member

It was heart warming to receive your message. It eases my pain to know someone cares enough to think of me. Especially someone who is struggling themselves makes it all the more special. You are special.

Unfortunately I have been particularly struggling the last week. Had a debilitating migraine for most of it (with all that's been happening had forgotten to take my HRT for a few days and this played havoc with my body). I have been depressed but pushing through best I can. My daughter is still in a dark place. She is extremely moody at the moment and taking it out on us. She can be downright nasty. She takes her meds all over the place and they have had no effect so far.

Its still very, very hard. I hope things will get better one day soon and that we can all experience some joy or contentment again. I wish that for us, you and others with all my heart. Boy oh boy life can throw some cruel blows but the miracle, the light is my daughters alive, my husband is alive and we still have each other.

I still do my cross stitch designs and am going out with a friend tomorrow. But it all takes enormous effort - the typical depression struggle. But it does help. As does holding onto hope. How are you going @Former-Member? I think of you also. Sending warm hugs xxx

Re: My daughter attempted suicide

Hi @Former-Member,

im really glad your daughter is still with us and your husband too. Life really decided to throw a curve ball at you this year. Im so pleased you are doing some self care things. I know the feeling too well of the overwheming going under and forgetting medication, especially when we need it most.

I know you will have a really rough time with your daughter who will take much of it out on you and herself. It seems such an unfair ride. I'm all over the place at the moment too but trying to calm myself, my natural inclination is still to want to take everything out on everyone I love. Luckily I have the years of experience to know I can't do that but still haven't found a good avenue to release my anger and frustration yet but I am working on it. Today I tantrummed on here but retracted it trying to find a way to release.

I really hope that things will turn around for you soon. I'm confident you will find that place of contentment and joy again. Hang in there @Former-Member. Sending hugs and best wishes.
