Welcome and getting started

Newbie

Newbie

HI Everyone,
just wanted to introduce myself and tell my story.

Here are some random facts:

1. I don't know a lot of things, including who I am, and how other people think.

2. I like tools.

3. I have 4 kids and wife.

Re: Newbie

Hi 54321_R
I was nervous too for awhile, to post, to ‘be seen’.
But I’m noticing I’ve lost my shame somewhere along the line.
It’s funny, when I’m open with people I’ve known and grown close to since my diagnosis 4 years ago, BPAD, I’m frankly surprised at their reactions - it’s like there’s a recoil. So much stigma which I’ve moved through since joining the forum and reading of other’s suffering. I know I’m not alone. I’ve also learnt recently not to share my story or my new lack of shame with others. Family and my dearest friends know so I’m leaving it there. Such is the tapestry of life. I’m just so grateful to be amongst others who know how it feels to be othered.

Hello @Monkey1 , nice to meet you.

How are you? Happy New Years.

Re: Newbie

Thanks @grayhorn.

This stuck out to me:

"First duty of care to self". I'd never really thought about this, but it sounds right.
My initial response to my craziness is to wonder "have I disappointed people?" which I suppose I should delay asking until I have got to a good place myself.

Re: Newbie

Thanks @Former-Member .

Feeling little better. On holidays at the moment. I think I don't like family holidays that much: lots of activity to keep children occupied.

I've got a lot of New Years resolutions. Hoping to keep some of them.

Re: Newbie

Hey @Monkey1 , sorry I'm just replying to you now. Nothing personal, I just don't want to say the wrong things to anyone on any forum, because my concentration is bad. How have you been?

Re: Newbie

I've been getting better @Former-Member .

My anxiety is diminishing, and I'm able to think more clearly about what I am anxious about. I've dived in some books on the topic, which reminds me of self-care / meditation stuff that I need to do more of.

thanks for your support
