Moving forward

Moving forward

As Monday looms I have been trying to work out how to move forward. Today I started collecting things for my coping box (thanks @Crazy_Bug_Lady). I bought some of my fave chocolates to put in and have been gathering bits and pieces. Happy for any other suggestions as to what to put in. I think I may need one for the car too. I'm thinking I may copy some pieces of wisdom from this forum and print them up to add in.

I'm hoping that I get to write more on this thread than the struggle thread as time goes by. Please feel free to add how you are moving forward as well. 💜😊

Re: Moving forward

It's really good advice @Faith-and-Hope, & exactly how it is.
It's hard learning to be a player.
It's harder to mind our own needs, & not feel guilt always I think.
Life's troubles can be made simple, but still it's navigation's of transferring that 'simple' is not always easy.
I believe we have deep ingrained beliefs that trip up this process.
It a through learning those formed beliefs and how they no longer serve us that help the puzzle fit together more nicely.

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope.
I'm not sure my back will appreciate the planting but I will and so will my pocket when I start harvesting the vegies!
Enjoy your walk in the sun and the non-virtual coffee!
Have a good one! 🎶 🎵

Re: Moving forward

Our doctor once told me not to fear pain ..... he was actually talking to D3 re her knee dislocating ..... he said it is a marker that there is something wrong ..... it signals a need for attention .....

But then, once the reason behind the pain is recognised and treated .... the pain becomes no longer necessary in the same capacity ..... D3 ha to learn to override the pain - something you usually identify with as a Stoo sign .... in order for her knee to heal .... and we take medication to try to dull or remove the pain when it is no longer serving us .....

Guilt is the same. It's a flag. We be to learn to identify what we are feeling guilty about .... and often it's our "inner child" reaction ..... responding with the world view of a child and usually very simplistically (ie cos mum said it was greedy / rude / norty .....). When we revisit why we are feeling guilty from the perspective of an adult, with lived experience on board, perhaps we need to shift the guilt cos it's no longer serving us in that capacity. Put it on the stand and debate it ..... do I need to feel guilty about this or is that just my inner child responding / morher's voice in my ears / former needs ..... ??

Hope that helps ..... they were some of the stones on my path earlier on .... have grown past most of them .... but not all. Still have to revisit that process sometimes .....

@Faith-and-Hope. Like what you said
" I had to rethink and start to deal a hand for myself at the table. I had to become a player too, not just a dealer" thanks.

Hello my dear @Former-Member

Just came across your thread now. I haven't had a chance to read much on here but just want you to know that I am thinking of you and care. How are you coping this evening - is everything alright presently?

Please never forget how special you are and how cherished. Sending warm hugs ❤️xx

Re: Moving forward

Hi @Faith-and-Hope

It was incredibly windy here yesterday - and warm - but in the evening we had heavy rain - and during the night - off-and-on - heavy rain

If your doctor told you not to fear pain it seems to me an indication that he hasn't had much - a lot of painful issues or even just one really bad painful bad back - alas - that is pain to fear - I guess most people would fear it - and go to all sorts of lengths to make sure whatever caused it is not likely to happen again or do all sorts of things to improve the situation -

I am afraid at the beginning of a flare-up with my back-pain - and the things that cause a flare-up can be totally out of our control - alas

Yes - pain tells us something is wrong - but working through physicial therapy is painful and hard work - and of course D3 will be afraid of exercising her dislocated knee - she has enough on her plate - and fear of pain is one way our mind is protecting our body

But yes - it is something to be worked through

Guilt now - is that the same thing? _ Do we not do something because we will feel guilty? Ah no - we just feel guilty after the act - and we learn - this is part of the getting of wisdom

So many of us feel guilty when we need not - it's the old parent-tapes - running uselessly - I bet most of the things that cause guilt from our childhood are not wrong at all - just our mother getting in a twist because we said the wrong thing in front of Auntie Whoever

Like you said - we need to shift the inappropriate guilt - it is so often about things that just annoyed our mother -

In fact - my mother could stir up guilt in me - and I usually could not understand what I had done - and often - I did not know before I did it that it was going to be a problem

But when I was told I was a "norty litle gurl" once or twice - I realised what I had done was wrong - I had been disobedient or something

But yes - guilt is often inappropriate - when there has been no crime involved

Guilt and pain are quite different though - childhood guilt is about something we have done to annoy someone - pain is something to fear as it has yet to happen

This is too complicated for a Monday morning
