My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

Sorry it was such a traumatic experience for you @Eve7

I am hesitant….. or perhaps been warned by my mum, not to take hrt because the increase risk of breast cancer. My grandmother died of breast cancer. I’m 40 now and need to start getting screened for that…. And I’m also due for the other type of screening which I am so terrified to get done. Far too triggering.

Re: My Mosaic

Hi @Bow

I had a TERRIBLE time with symptoms during perimenopause and dove really deep into the research around HRT (now called MHT). I used to be admin for a menopause group and spoke to the top top experts on the subject. HRT increasing risk of BC is actually not the case for most women at all. There is a lot of newer research to show this. Of course this is NOT medical advice but I would strongly advise to talk to someone who has expertise in the area to get the best info for you. The lack of oestrogen in your body (sudden decrease with a hysterectomy) can really mess with your body especially those already prone to MH conditions. Also, under 45 and going through it, you can have health risks like osteoporosis due to lack of oestrogen. HRT honestly saved my life and there are loads of women in that group who felt the same. Many had BC in the family but after speaking with experts they discovered it was okay for them to use. WellFemme is an amazing service in Australia. https://wellfemme.com.au/ Anyway...sorry for the lengthy post...but I am so passionate about the misinformation out there about HRT and get on my soapbox lol.

Sending hugs

Hanami

Re: My Mosaic

Thanks @hanami for sharing your experience, I really appreciate it. I’ll be honest I’ve done zero research myself, and my mum also tends to take anything and run with it. So I will certainly take what you have said on board.

My appointment went okish. I got my oncologist referral and ultrasound request form, I chickened out of telling my gp I was due for a papsmear. Next time maybe.
my liver function is still out and I need to have bloods done again next week. My gp also asked me to make an appointment with my eating disorder psychiatrist. I haven’t seen her since maybe March, so I have just sent her a text. And she also wanted me to see if I could bring my dietitian appointment forward. She’s concerned about my lack of fluids.

Re: My Mosaic

Ugh, @Bow hate the papsmear too. I was wondering about the 'do it yourself' version they are now offering. Still have to go to GP but doing it yourself might be less traumatic. Have you thought about that? I think I need to ask around to see if anyone I know has done it this way!

Re: My Mosaic

I was told that if I didn’t take hrt my bones would be like chalk by the time I was 50 so “it’s 6 of one and half a dozen of the other” if that makes sense.

Also, my sister died from bc and she had all her organs in tact plus she fed 5 babies until they were 2 so there’s no consistencies with bc either.

Get wise advice @Bow 🩵🦋😊

Re: My Mosaic

oh yes @hanami I have heard about the do it yourself ones and did wonder if it would be an option with my gp. I may ask. I remember when I was pregnant that there was a swab test that I had to do myself, that went ok. So hopefully it will be an option.

Re: My Mosaic

I would assume most GPs offer it. Hopefully! Much less invasive doing it yourself @Bow . For me anyway and I imagine for many others on here x

Re: My Mosaic

I can’t tell you the last time I had one @Bow. But if I had a DIY test I may consider it.

I regards to having a hysterectomy and HRT. You have to do what you think is right for you.

I was scared of HRT too as my Nan also died of BC. I’m getting to the age of peri menopause. But @hanami input was really interesting.

Anyway I hope you are doing ok tonight

Re: My Mosaic

thanks for sharing @Captain24 i think the diy approach would be really beneficial for a lot of women for a whole variety of reasons. I got the text message a few months ago reminding me that I was due and I remember swearing out loud and then my anxiety shooting up.

Feel likes it’s been a bit of an emotional day @Captain24 i think it’s actually just been a really big week for me and I’m a bit worn out. A lot of appointments and I have a lot next week too.

I emailed my dietitian after my disastrous appointment with my pdoc and case manager earlier in the week, she responded this afternoon… feel so heard… understood and validated. She had suggested a support team meeting, this time with me involved, to talk about how best to support me, setting some clear guidelines and boundaries, especially around conversations about weight and making sure everyone is on the same page. I think this could be really valuable moving forward, but feels like a really scary thing to be part of if I’m really honest!!

my gp wanted me to see if my dietitian could move my appointment forward, thankfully she could see me sooner. But then I had to change my gp appointment cause they clashed.

how has the rest of your day been @Captain24 ?

Re: My Mosaic

It’s really good that you have a great dietitian @Bow.

A joint support meeting sounds like a great idea. Hopefully it will help get everyone on the same page and help limit the unhelpful approach of some.

Im glad you got an earlier appointment. I think you need it.

I hear how hard it is with all the appointments. I struggle with it. Most of my days off have some appointment. I’m off for 3 weekdays next week and have 4 different appointments! It gets exhausting.

I’ve just had some dinner. Waiting on mum and dad to turn up to pick up their dog. Other than that I’m going to try and watch a movie.

Do you have anything on tonight?
