My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

That is fair @Bow. Sometimes it's good to focus real small. First, check in with yourself - are there any basic needs that you could attend to? A glass of water, a snack, a cup of tea, a shower, some deep breaths, or some rest? Then maybe have a think... if your mind is racing, you could distract yourself by going for a walk or doing something physical. If your mood is quite low, you could try something like watching a nice kids movie (watched 'Strange World' on Disney plus recently and it's really good! Would recommend 😊) or even get messy with some painting - doesn't have to be anything, just splash some colours around. If you're feeling quite overwhelmed, you could call someone or journal your thoughts, try to get it off your chest.

All just thoughts of things to try. Here with you every step of the way as needed 💜

Re: My Mosaic

You're not a terrible person or a failure, you're battling some massive stuff that anyone would struggle with @Bow 😞

Are you OK, do you need to go to the GP to get fixed up?

Sending lots of 💜

I seen my psychologist this morning. I had been expecting her to ask where my head was at in regards to exposure therapy and ceasing it/recommencing it again. But she didn’t ask and I didn’t blurt out hey I wanna pick it up again. Sigh. So it wasn’t discussed.

We talked about home life and how everyone is coping. And I told her despite ceasing exposure therapy I am still having a lot of intense flashbacks. None of that has changed unfortunately, like she thought it might of. So we did some guided imagery. Anyone familiar with it??? We put together a different ending/ narrative to what actually happened to me. We recorded her telling it and I am to listen to it, especially when I have a flash back and see if it helps.

im not sure how I feel about this guided imagery. I struggled to do it in session, struggled not to wander and jump ahead to what actually happened. It feels really unnatural. But I will give it a go.

I shared my journaling and an art piece that I started months ago and was able to put words to it over the weekend. My psychologist really loved it, she got a bit emotional and asked my permission to share it with one of her colleagues that also does a lot of schema therapy.
