My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

I’m gals you finally seen her @Bow . At least it’s a step forward at last. As much as you don’t want it. Hopefully getting some nutrients into your body may help you to start to feel a little better.

Thanks @tyme

my blood sugar levels took a turn for the bad a little bit ago. Forcing me to drink lemonade and waiting for Drs to come around.

Yes @NatureLover I understand them stopping them for a couple of days to give my body a break after my attempt.

@Bow I hadn't realised that stopping your psych meds for a couple of days was part of your care. Thanks for that info. But still, they should've been started again.

It seems to me that you've been put in the "too hard" basket during your stay there 😞

I'm glad you've seen the dietician, and I'm sorry that an NG tube is now necessary...that's a huge thing, you accepting the NG tube, so well done, and I will be sending wishes that it's not too painful or distressing...

I did some reading last night online on the ABC news website, about people suffering anorexia with higher BMIs. There were quite a few long articles about it. I found one on the regular news, and it led me to other articles. They mentioned that those people suffer discrimination and disadvantage when it comes to getting in to the ED inpatient clinics 😞 I was so sorry to read this. I know how much you suffer and how much good quality inpatient care would help. I will continue to send wishes that you can get into the ED inpatient clinic in Sydney.

Sending much 💜 dear @Bow

Re: My Mosaic

@NatureLover Yes very much so they should of been started already. Mum wasn’t happy when I told her last night that they still hadn’t been restarted. That will be on todays list of things that need to be sorted, as it will be the weekend then and I won’t see anyone over the weekend. Think mum is coming in again today so she will probably have something to say too.

Yes I think the too hard basket too @NatureLover medical people don’t really get it. And the psych are reluctant to do anything while I’m still on a medical ward.

yep, unfortunately there is a lot of discrimination and disadvantaged to those with anorexia and aren’t underweight. Even getting a gp to take me seriously in the beginning was hard enough and so many times in the public hospital system. But my bloods have been a clear sign about how sick this horrible disorder can make me. I’ve had potassium, magnesium and sodium replacement via IV the last couple

of days. I’ve also started on zinc and vit B tablets and a multivitamin. And then yesterday they call a clinical review because my blood sugars were so low and ketones so high. I’m having daily ECGs too to monitor my heart and daily bloods. It’s a lot. Anorexia is not a weight disorder. It’s a horrible mental disorder and can have such terrible consequences to our bodies. So yep, a good inpatient program would be so helpful. There are many other consequences to my body that I won’t go into either.

they moved me to another ward in the middle of the night. It’s a bit quieter here which is nice and darker during the night, so hopefully with my meds being restarted I will actually be able to get some sleep.

My daughter goes to her dads tomorrow so that means tellin him that I am in hospital 😩 that freaks me out. And I think mum and my daughter will be coming in today and I don’t want her to see me with the NG tube in,,, so will probably put a mask on and try and hide it.

Re: My Mosaic

Thanks @Captain24

I had my NG tube put in this morning, have had the X-ray to ensure that it’s placed right and now just waiting for the nurses to start the feeds. Progress! Now to just to get use to it!

I’ve also seen both the gastro team and the mh guy today and expressed my frustration around my meds, so hopefully they will be sorted out today.

I didn’t realise it was a public holiday on Monday…. Last time I was in with an NG tube I got to see my ED psychiatrist in the flesh (I only ever see her via zoom usually) but I know that she only does rounds on a Monday, so will probably not get to see her and I really hope to be out of her before the following Monday.. but time will tell.
they are having a multi disciplinary team meeting on Tuesday too.

mum and my daughter have just left. Was nice to spend some time with them.

how’s you day going @Captain24?

Re: My Mosaic

You actually sound a little more positive @Bow! I am so glad that the team is finally working with you.

I feel a little bit better today. Thank you for asking.. I have a work function tonight and I have found the strength to go. But only because a friend is and we are meeting up before to catch up. My only hope is that I can hold onto it.

Re: My Mosaic

*trigger warning- ED hospitalisation*

Still very much a battle @Captain24 i know that they will start on really slow feeds, which looking at this little medicine cup that they give my pills to me in, it’s not much at all, a tiny amount. But it’s going to be constant and it’s food in my stomach, which I haven’t had in ages. My ED screams at me. To not agree to this nutrition. But if I’m ever going to get out of here this is the start…. And I have to start somewhere. And so yes…. Trying to be a little more positive that things are headed in the right direction finally.

it’s my daughters 7th birthday on the 12th. I want to be home for that. Before that even. We were discussing birthday cake ideas today when she was here visiting. She wants an Elsa doll cake (the ones with the doll down in the middle of the cake and the skirt is the cake?).
