My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

A whole lot of big deep sad today with a side of pissed off and exhaustion. I seen my pdoc today, my case manager sat in with me. So much inside my head but I don’t even have words.

Hi @Bow,

Big deep sad, and feeling frustrated and exhausted are all big feelings to be holding at the moment Thinking of you tonight.

How did you find having your case manager there with you for the appointment with your pdoc today?

Re: My Mosaic

@Daisydreamer I guess in some ways it’s helpful having her there. Extra support. Brings things up that perhaps I don’t think of or don’t feel is important.
did not like that a student was also there, but don’t feel like I can say no when asked if it’s ok they come.

Re: My Mosaic

@Bow that's great that her presence helped you feel supported

I can understand feeling uneasy with a student there, and feeling uncomfortable with setting that boundary. I went through a similar thing a while back, where I didn't want to upset anyone by asking a student to leave, and did have someone else help me set that boundary when I felt like I couldn't (my partner who was my support person in the appointment). It sounds like your case manager was able to advocate alongside you today, do you feel she could be someone to help advocate and set your boundary with or on your behalf about the student being there in future?

Re: My Mosaic

@Daisydreamer It was my case manager that asked if it was ok that the student sit in. Was sprung on me, sitting in the waiting area and they all walk out together (CM, student and pdoc). The last time I seen my pdoc… and first time with this new one, the same thing happened.

my first appointment with my dietitian, she asked via text if a student could sit in, it felt easier to say no that way.

maybe I was stronger back then.

Re: My Mosaic

Oh no @Bow, I am so sorry to hear 😞 Those last minute asks are so hard. It sounds like with the dietician that being able to say no via message and not face to face made a difference. That's understandable We all have different preferences when it comes to how we communicate our boundaries, and the time we need to process and make an informed decision about what we want.

I believe that the fact you recognise your boundary now, and what you are comfortable with and not comfortable with is strength- it takes a huge amount of insight to do what you did today and post here that you weren't comfortable!

Re: My Mosaic

I think if my case manager came to me and asked on my own that would be easier @Daisydreamer but to have the student there, don’t want to be rude. I know students have to learn, but surely there is a better way to do this. I highly doubt I would be the only person that struggles with this…. Especially in this kind of setting.

Re: My Mosaic

That must have been so difficult @Bow and I understand it being easier to decline when it's by text.

Last time I saw my GP she asked if I'd mind having a student and it tool all I could muster to say no when feeling particularly vulnerable,

You did really well to acknowledge the benefit of having your Case Manager there hon.

💚❤️💛
