My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

@Wintersweet yes that’s exactly how it is… if I think too much about it, prepare myself too much then yes it gets too overwhelming.

@Snowie how did Kmart go with your mum?

I cleaned my D arts and craft space downstairs this morning in preparation for our house inspection. Our bins got emptied this morning and I now have 2 big bags of rubbish 🤦🏼‍♀️

my new SW and the other young girl that stopped by last week came to visit quickly this morning. So I have at least met her now. She seems nice. She will come out again on Thursday.

D is home again today, but I think is feeling better, so think she will be right to go back to school tomorrow

@Snowie

Hope you have a good rest of your day too 💛

I’m trying to remember the last biography I read and shocked to realise how long it’s been! Do you have any specific biographies you’d recommend?

@Bow

I really value you sharing that you also struggle with the experience of “I thought about it and now it feels overwhelming and I’m stuck” as I often feel really alone in struggling with that. Obviously I wish that wasn’t something you had to deal with, as it’s an awful experience, but it means a lot that I’m not the only one. 💛

If there were two bags of stuff to get rid of, that must have been a lot of work! Well done for getting her arts and crafts space cleaned up! Hope she feels well enough to go to school tomorrow.

I’m glad to hear you were able to meet the new SW and that she seems nice. Looking forward to hearing how you go with her on Thursday 😊

Re: My Mosaic

Hi @Wintersweet

There are a lot I could recommend. Dreams from my Father by Barack Obama and A Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela are really good. I found them very insightful.

@Bow Good to hear that you got to meet your new SW. Hopefully this one can stick around for awhile.

Hopefully D is back at school tomorrow.

Took mum to Kmart. Was very tiring. She got mad for me trying to explain things to her and the different sizes. In the end I told her to buy what she wanted. Already had a call saying they don't fit 🤦‍♀️

She's called me twice this afternoon already about problems. I'm meant to just work it out straight away.

Anyway, I hope the rest of your days have been good.

Re: My Mosaic

My D is a very untidy person @Wintersweet she really doesn’t care! I put up a black curtain between our art spaces that way I don’t have to look at!! Out of sight out of mind yeah? 😂 I did leave a heap of stuff on her desk for her to put away but I’m kinda regretting that now cause I can almost guarantee that stuff will be on the floor now 😩 hopefully she won’t sift through the bags and pull stuff out.

I really tried to have a nap this afternoon. Things feeling a bit dark and I don’t wanna be awake. But couldn’t sleep. So finished of my frames for market, realized I did order enough mini figurines, but oh well. 12 will be plenty.

glad that we can share in a common struggle. Know your not alone in that.

how was your day?

Re: My Mosaic

Oh that’s rough @Snowie im sorry your mum was so cranky and complicated. I can definitely relate to trying to explain things to people who don’t get it and they just want to argue. My brother is like that a lot. I can’t imagine those phone calls are easy to take.

my mum was talking to my brother this morning. His got a bit more pain. He had his chemo bloods done and a routine ctscan- guess the timing of the scan was good. Not sure when he will find out the results though.

mum put the slow cooker on this morning. Beef stew. It smells delicious.

Re: My Mosaic

Hoping it comes with good results for your brother @Bow or at least better results than last time.

The house would smell nice, I love my slow cooker!

As her dementia progresses she is getting angrier and nasty. I know it can be a part of the process. Doesn't make it any easier.

Re: My Mosaic

@Snowie

Thanks for the book recommendations!

Dealing with anyone who’s getting angrier and nastier as a result of dementia would be hard. It would be so much harder when it’s a parent with history. It would be mentally and emotionally exhausting. Have you reached out to Dementia Australia at all to see if they can be an added source of support? Either way I’m glad the forums are a place where you can share a bit about how hard it can be for you with her. 💛

@Bow

I love the black curtain idea! Gives her the freedom to be a bit messy in her creativity while reducing the impact on you a bit. I would definitely be the kid who’d go through the bag and pull stuff out but I imagine that’s tricky with D if she does it in a way that recreates the original mess.

I’m sorry you couldn’t sleep. Well done for recognising that it wasn’t working and then finding something to help you cope with having to be awake.

Hope the chemo blood test results come back as well as possible, and the scan results. Thinking of your brother, you, and your mum as you go through this together. 💛

My day was ok, woke up with a lot of anxiety and really struggled to get out of bed again, more than yesterday, although I did eventually manage it after about two hours. I’m trying to work out if a short break from work would help, and if so, how to plan it so I don’t spiral 😅

Re: My Mosaic

Thanks @Snowie @Wintersweet

im curled up on the couch under a blanket tonight. I’m struggling a fair bit. My thoughts aren’t helpful and I just want to go to bed and sleep. Gonna log off I think.

Re: My Mosaic

Afternoon @Wintersweet

Yes I have spoken to Dementia Australia quite a few times, trying to get some support and also some suggestions. They have been helpful.

@Bow hoping you got some sleep last night.

Wishing you both a good day 💗
