Checking In

Hi,

I'm not doing so well. Didn't have a good appointment with psychatrist today and because I am struggling, it is difficult for me to open up.

@oceangirl
I've woken up feeling plain. Not as bad as yesterday I think. But yeah still plain.

Just processing everything. Dad basically said that even if i am some form of "errand boy" in my current role then its not as much stress and I get paid well for what I do.
Nothing bad about that I would agree.
But I guess I just want more from work and life.
It doesn't help when I've got a million thoughts a minute going through my mind - Idk what peace of mind looks like.

I am hoping today is like yesterday and I can sneak in some work for my internship. Will see how that goes.

I have to work tomorrow or Friday due to the day switch I had on Monday. Bit annoying but oh well.

I need to stop catastrophising and thinking about how everything is gonna fail. I also keep placing myself in narratives of big monies or TV shows and thinking about what I would do - lord of the rings, game of thrones, star wars etc. Idk why i keep doing it - maybe it's the kid in me. Maybe I want escapism. Either way, I gotta stop doing it. Its silly

Anyway.
Off to get coffee before 9am meeting.

Ciao Nonna! @BlueBay

@MDT I always find your soul searching very sensible, natural and normal.

@oceangirl Yes it is good to have a sounding board on here with forum members. Its a big reality testing for me to see how long it takes to evolve. Its not an overnight thing, or even a 10 week term thing, where the 'goodies' are obvious straight away etc ... social support seems to take a long time for all of us. Feeling out our relationships, feeling out our personal strengths and weaknesses, and who we click with.

Glad you found gym good. Are you still at the sanctuary?

I am doing alright. My son seems to be turning a corner for the good.

I think I am finally coming to a sense of what happened in my family and why, and also what aspects of my personality get me into trouble. I figured out I have been stuck in 6 year old little helper/ people pleaser mode. I needed to develop a few more sides to me, to round out my personality more. Also learning not be too worried about what others think and keep moving forward. I am getting down to the beach and to the river more often these days....

@MDT

Hope you had a good day. Are you working from home today? Live your life how you want to Hams because life is too short and don't sweat the small stuff. Its cliche but true. Don't let those things take from your life and cause you distress and anxiety and you miss out on doing the things you enjoy and value most. Start creating the life you want.

At least you're aware that you try to escape your current situation by using a form of distraction. It can be benefical too but also can have a negative affect too. It can give you breathing space but also can be a problem when you use it too often and you're avoiding things.

I am feeling a bit better today and I got a few things done. And also feeling less tired during the day. Sorry you're feeling meh but hopefully you felt better has you progressed through your day. Later Hams !!

@Appleblossom Hi my sister... It is lovely to hear from you. Making connections are important for our wellbeing and also I think it reduces our stress level too. I generally get a good feel for people and have a good judge of character but I think its important to keep an open mind. It shows compassion.

You seem to be in a better place and you seem more happier. Glad to hear your son is doing well. Yes we can listen to others and their opinions but at the end of the day it is your life. But of course others can see things in us that we can't see of ourselves and its not always negative but sometimes a gift. I think when its coming from a place of love and caring it is different then someone being negative and critical. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff and to spend our days worrying what others think of us.

Its finding stratgies that work for you and focusing your energy into the things that are important to you- like spending time down at the river and beach. Its creating the life that you want and having others who can help you invision a brighter future. Small changes lead to success. You're strong and kind person and sometimes you have to say no to others so that you can say yes to yourself. Keep letting go and moving forward my sister. Talk to you soon
