Checking In

Checking In

Hi,

I'm not doing so well. Didn't have a good appointment with psychatrist today and because I am struggling, it is difficult for me to open up.

I'm feeling quite uneasy and anxious atm.

Backstory to why -I reconnected with an old friend and we caught up Friday night.

And he open up to me about his childhood and how he grew up in DV, his dad having an affair and he found out ten years ago he had a half brother. Both his mum and Dad passed away his mum three years ago and his Dad two years ago. After his Dads passed away he has had family issues.

He wanted to see if we could have a future and I told him I was unsure of what I wanted long term. If I wanted to get married if I did it would have to be with the right person. For the last few days he continues to ask for my address. And I told him I didn't want to meet at my place but I would meet him somewhere in public. When we were out he was trying to tell me what to say to my friends etc. He seems to still have a drinking problem and spents large amount of money on clothing, jewllery etc. He told me he spend 100,000 in the last year on clothes and watches. It made me uneasy to hear this and if he was being honest with me.

Fast forward to Saturday morning I got a phone call from him but I missed his call. And I decide to message him and tell him that I didn't see a future with him and that I just wanted to be friends. He replied quite a hurtful message and bascially blamed me for why so many men are single etc. And also that he open up to me about his parents and childhood. When we first started talking, I was clear with him that I wanted to take things slowly. I think, I made the right decision and I am just going to move on.

@oceangirl
I'm not bad. Just overwhelmed with decisions about work, move houses and my physical and mental health. I'm trying hard to break things down.

@BlueBay

Glad to hear you're ok.

Good luck with moving houses and hope you settle in fast.

Its a great strategy to break things down into manageable steps.

Tomorrow Kira is back to the vet.

Re: Checking In

You made the right decision @oceangirl

You know I think people are hurting a lot these days with regards to dating and partnering.

I went on a lunch date in Friday and it was good but she told me she had been married before. There was hurt there so I didn't press.

Another friend of mine started a dating account and he thought he was doing something wrong but got no matches

Sometimes girls ghost guys and sometimes guys ghost girls on apps. I have experienced it. Its not nice.

Other times girls have high expectations of guys and vice versa with guys having high expectations of girls

I think you did the right thing by what you said and did. Sadly I think people who are hurt find a rationale to hurt others too. Its a sign of a character flaw. I have been hurt. But I don't see why putting more hurt into the world is good.

I'm sorry you are hurt by this experience my awesome friend.
