Difficulty talking to psych

Difficulty talking to psych

I seem to have a lot of difficulty in talking to my psychologist. I've been seeing him for almost 2 years (plus a longer history of having seen him previously) and it's slowly getting a bit easier but still doesn't always go well.

Apparently he finds working with me to be professionally challenging, so it's not just my imagination that things are difficult. I don't want to be difficult because I don't want him to hate working with me. So far he's still willing to be my psych but if he ends up not liking me then it'll be too upsetting to continue. But I'm very attached to my psych so I want to fix things and keep seeing him.

Does anyone else have long term difficulties with talking to their psychs/counsellors/etc? I'm at the point where I'm now seeing a counsellor to help me handle things with my psych, and I think it might be helping a little.

Yes, and believe me, one can waste a lot of time talking to the wrong psych. i have wondered in the past if some therapists only skills are to get you back in the door for the next session. sounds cynical and that it is hit and miss choosing the right one? Maybe there are other doors to knock on, and people with better skills?

Just seems like no one cares, I'm a crap pathetic monster and everyone else knows but they don't want to see it. So let's all just pretend I'm invisible until I'm not. Until the inside flips outside and I make everyone see, confronted with the ugly truth, the terror in the night. Horrible, terrible, monstrous, me.

I think that you shouldn't. No one should.

I'm going to try to take a break from here. Might not work but worth a shot.

@TheVorticon I say much the same stuff. I’m evil, a monster, pathetic, crap. It’s other name is childhood trauma, but some of us are afraid to put the blame where it belongs.

Re: Difficulty talking to psych

I've had a lot of trouble with this lately but it's all in my head between sessions. Just thought after thought about how I don't deserve to see my psych anymore. Then he had to reschedule and it made things even more haywire until I decided I would see him on the rescheduled date he'd picked - because otherwise it'd be annoying for him to have to change the appointment. I know that changing his calendar is less annoying for him than having to see me for the appointment, but I couldn't bring myself to quit. It's just so hard all the time.
