Need to vent

Need to vent

Hi everyone

I need to vent!!

I'm not coping

I'm not enjoying my new job. It's mundane, boring and triggering. For those who don't know, I was made redundant in my pharmacy job 4 days before Christmas. I then found a casual job at a supermarket. The job I do is very boring. I have far too much 'alone' time at work so my mind wanders to a lot of stuff. I asked my supervisor if i could learn the registers as thats what i would love to do. she replied that she couldn't until next year, don't know why as we are so short staffed and they need extras.

They advertise extra shifts or replacing a shift on facebook, which i really hate. but that's how they do it. i asked my supervisor if i could pick up extra shifts even though i don't know the registers. she replied yes thats fine that i would still do cleaning.

The other day a staff member posted she needed someone to do a shift. i was the first one tyo reply and accept the shift. another girl replied after me. the staff member replied back to me saying she would give that shift to the second girl as i don't know tyhe registers. I was so annoyed, angry and then upset. I feel used, and discriminated.

The problem is I am 'too scared' to confront my supervisor and ask again as i don't want the other member to get into gtrouble. so this means that i can't get any extra shifts until i learn the registers.

it is so wrong

the other issue i am having is seeing the old pharmacy customers. it's not an issue in that i see them, they love to talk. some still didn't know i had gone!!! but each time i see them and they say 'oh i am sorry to what happened to you' i get upset, hurt angry at the new owners. i miss the girls i used to work with and the job.

working for a much much bigger organisation is hard. there is so much clicks, so much politics and crap. i try to go in and do my job and go home.

but with so much time on my hands at work i start to think negatively.

i have recentyly had terrible vertigo, a 5 day migraine and today again another headache. i decided to call in sick and was spoken to so rude and short by the supervisor. it's like she doesn't believe me when i call in sick. and my anxiety is extremely high in having to ring her.

i don't have the confidence to leave and get another job. i feel i am not good enough

i am sorry to vent, i know a lot of you are struggling with your own issues. and that i should be thankful that i do have a job, as a lot of people have lost theirs.

Re: Need to vent

Hey @saltandpepper

I don't have many hobbies. i enjoy walking, knitting and sewing. The thing is it's my motivation or lack of it that is keeping me doing nothing.

like right now i should be out there walking - but - i feel i need to stay inside. i don't know if its because i am alone or fear of something else. i know i have walked alone before, so i should just get up and go.

washing is done, house is clean, nothing to really do. oh i just remembered i need to sort out the laundry cupboard. yes i could do that.

ok, i am going to push myself and go outside for a walk. i know i will feel better once i have gone.

chat later, we'll see how i go.

how are you this morning? what are your plans for today?

Re: Need to vent

@BlueBay Enjoy your walk. Perhaps the fear response is just making an appearance because there's been a change to routine. Normally going for a walk with others and now today going alone, it's a change, sometimes fear creeps in when we try to do anything different. It's normal--for me anyway. It's like your brain recognises somethings different so it starts throwing up road blocks. But that's just me anyway. But you're right, I'm sure you'll feel much better for it. I like to go walking at the dog park, that's always good for a pick-me-up. Random dogs running over to me like I'm a long lost best friend--love it.

Yeah I hear you on the motivation thing. Not feeling that much myself lately either. But my house is not clean, washing is not done, doesn't even make the list of things to worry about for me right now--though it probably should given what a sh*t show it is here. Meh.

Well, I have this grocery shopping list I've been staring at since Wednesday last week. Still haven't managed to go and get food. I told myself I'd do that today, but it felt like a lie. Probably not going to do anything today to be honest.

Hope today is good to you @BlueBay just as you deserve

Hi everyone @Eve7 @saltandpepper @Emelia8 @Shaz51 @BPDSurvivor @Owlunar and others reading

I need some advice pls.
Is it wrong to ask your kids for money?
my boys are living at home, work snd very independent. They're self sufficient.
but right now we are at our lowest in reg to our savings account. I'm too embarrassed to say the amount. But it's very very low.

I feel guilty and ashamed in asking. I know I need to wirk but right now I just want to stsy home. I don't want to go to wirk. I really do t want to leave home unless it's for a walk.
I think I'm getting worse in that regard.

before I had to buy dinner but I didn't want to leave hime so I called my son who was at shops. He bought dinner. I could not go out to shops. Now he's gone to wirk and I'm inside knitting a bit.

Re: Need to vent

@BlueBay I think that's fine to have them pay their way since they're both working. Do they contribute in any way at all already?

Perhaps do a family dinner and talk it out with them, it's ok to tell them money is tight, it's the real world which they'll have to learn about sooner or later. They could pay board, or even just get them to buy their own groceries (or handle their bills if they don't already).

I'm sure they'll be happy to take on some responsibility, and that's the thing about work, we don't get to spend all our pay on fun stuff, gotta pay the boring necessities first.

Re: Need to vent

hi @saltandpepper
They do already pay us money. They pay their own bills etc. the older one buys his own food and cooks most nights his own dinner. He's a shift worker.
yeah I could chat to them and ask.
They have been very good with their money. They both worked part time while studying and bought their own cars at 18.
very sensible adults.

Re: Need to vent

Phewww @BlueBay ,

Your initial post made me think your boys both work and live free at home! I was going to say that any child who is of age and has a full time job should contribute at least SOMETHING!

No, your boys sound very reasonable. I dont think it unreasonable to ask them to help out a little.

I've just stopped now and trying to unwind for the night. I thought id catch up with the day's forum events!

Catchya laterz! @BlueBay

Re: Need to vent

thank you so much my friend @Shaz51 when i look back i have raised three amazing children. It was tough financially to send them to a catholic school, especially all three at one time for a few years. But the school was very caring and supportive of our financial situation.

when i see them now - all adults, doing what they love - it makes me smile to see them achieve something in life.

things are starting to improve financially for my daughter too - she has been offered a freelance job in make up for a styling and wedding salon. its her dream job. she has worked there for a few weeks, whenever they need a make up artist she gets called. next friday she has to work so i am having little A for the day. I can't wait. I will take her out and have lunch somewhere. Or even the cinema. Even though i am at home alone, i am enjoying the peace and quiet.

but then it gets too quick and i miss little A. I miss her cuddles so much. She called me this morning and showed me her bedroom and her toys. she was feeding milk to her baby!!! i love her so so much.

Hi @BPDSurvivor @saltandpepper @Eve7 @Emelia8 @Owlunar

@BPDSurvivor having a chat with our boys tonight. hubby gets paid thursday so we swhould be okay but just wanted a little bit as a buffer in case of emergency. i do know that if we were stuck our boys would help. they are really good like that. it's just me that feels ashamed and guilty in having to ask.
