Need to vent

Need to vent

Hi everyone

I need to vent!!

I'm not coping

I'm not enjoying my new job. It's mundane, boring and triggering. For those who don't know, I was made redundant in my pharmacy job 4 days before Christmas. I then found a casual job at a supermarket. The job I do is very boring. I have far too much 'alone' time at work so my mind wanders to a lot of stuff. I asked my supervisor if i could learn the registers as thats what i would love to do. she replied that she couldn't until next year, don't know why as we are so short staffed and they need extras.

They advertise extra shifts or replacing a shift on facebook, which i really hate. but that's how they do it. i asked my supervisor if i could pick up extra shifts even though i don't know the registers. she replied yes thats fine that i would still do cleaning.

The other day a staff member posted she needed someone to do a shift. i was the first one tyo reply and accept the shift. another girl replied after me. the staff member replied back to me saying she would give that shift to the second girl as i don't know tyhe registers. I was so annoyed, angry and then upset. I feel used, and discriminated.

The problem is I am 'too scared' to confront my supervisor and ask again as i don't want the other member to get into gtrouble. so this means that i can't get any extra shifts until i learn the registers.

it is so wrong

the other issue i am having is seeing the old pharmacy customers. it's not an issue in that i see them, they love to talk. some still didn't know i had gone!!! but each time i see them and they say 'oh i am sorry to what happened to you' i get upset, hurt angry at the new owners. i miss the girls i used to work with and the job.

working for a much much bigger organisation is hard. there is so much clicks, so much politics and crap. i try to go in and do my job and go home.

but with so much time on my hands at work i start to think negatively.

i have recentyly had terrible vertigo, a 5 day migraine and today again another headache. i decided to call in sick and was spoken to so rude and short by the supervisor. it's like she doesn't believe me when i call in sick. and my anxiety is extremely high in having to ring her.

i don't have the confidence to leave and get another job. i feel i am not good enough

i am sorry to vent, i know a lot of you are struggling with your own issues. and that i should be thankful that i do have a job, as a lot of people have lost theirs.

I'm so angry crying and not coping

I just got a text msg from work to say my two shifts I started last week are niw cut. Over. No more register shifts.
it's a kick in the guts (literally)

im in hospital in pain - they know that.
why didn't they wait until I came back to wirk

IM SO OVER THIS PLACE 😡😡

I'm going to resign. I'm not going back. They have no respect. No empathy. Lack of communication. Even yesterday when I rang to say I'm in hospital the young supervisor just said "ok". Not "take care, hope you're ok" nothing.

I'm so upset been crying 😢😢😢

Re: Need to vent

@BlueBay I am so sorry to hear you are so upset right now. Getting that text message from work sounds like it's taken its toll.

When you've felt distressed like this in the past, has there been anything you've been able to do that has helped? I think sometimes crying is a great outlet.

@BlueBay

I hope you start feeling better. I noticed in your writing you have an expectation that people should just know what to say. Sometimes people don't know the right things to say, they have never been in the situation before and expecting them to know how to deal with it and then them failing is just leaving you to feel stressed. It might be worth talking to someone about these expectations.

We are all sending you our support and looking forward to hearing from you, no matter what the day might bring.

I'm not saying I have expectations @AussieRecharger

it's not a nice msg to receive when you're in hospital.
If someone calls up snd says they're in hodpital wouldn't you at least say "oh well tske care or good luck??"

Re: Need to vent

@BlueBay saying "oh well tske care or good luck??" could come across as insensitive or even insincere if they don't know why you are in hospital. If I don't know the right thing to say, I prefer to say nothing at all. It's just coming across as you really don't like this workplace and that's okay but it's drawing a lot of negative emotional energy from you.

Since you are going to quit anyway, What values/beliefs/cultural aspects do you think you would like in your next workplace? Do you have time at the moment to research new workplaces and how they can meet your expectations?

Re: Need to vent

@AussieRecharger sorry but I disagree with you.
how can what I wrote be insincere? I'm a very sincere person with compassion and empathy.

Yes I don't like my workplace.

Re: Need to vent

I'm really sorry to hear about the reduced shifts at work @BlueBay ... that is indeed a bit of a low blow.

I know you have wanted to quit this job for months, due to a number of different issues. At the end of the day, it seems to me that your workplace is causing you a considerable amount of grief and anxiety. And that currently outweighs any benefits you might have in having a job in the first place. You say you have made your mind up to resign this time ... no going back. With your physical health being the problem is has been lately, this may be a good option for you. Once you get your health back on track, you can start afresh and have the freedom to begin looking for work once more. You do have a lot on your plate right now. This job has added to your skills and experience, so it may well assist you in finding alternative employment. So it has not been all bad.

I hope you feel less upset now, than you did earlier when you posted. And maybe you have since changed your mind about resigning. That is of course entirely up to you. You do have choices, so I hope that knowing and accepting that will allow you to make the right decision for your own wellbeing. I hope your pain has subsided? And I am really glad to hear that the nurses, doctors and other staff have been so kind to you. You deserve good care.
