Need to vent

Need to vent

Hi everyone

I need to vent!!

I'm not coping

I'm not enjoying my new job. It's mundane, boring and triggering. For those who don't know, I was made redundant in my pharmacy job 4 days before Christmas. I then found a casual job at a supermarket. The job I do is very boring. I have far too much 'alone' time at work so my mind wanders to a lot of stuff. I asked my supervisor if i could learn the registers as thats what i would love to do. she replied that she couldn't until next year, don't know why as we are so short staffed and they need extras.

They advertise extra shifts or replacing a shift on facebook, which i really hate. but that's how they do it. i asked my supervisor if i could pick up extra shifts even though i don't know the registers. she replied yes thats fine that i would still do cleaning.

The other day a staff member posted she needed someone to do a shift. i was the first one tyo reply and accept the shift. another girl replied after me. the staff member replied back to me saying she would give that shift to the second girl as i don't know tyhe registers. I was so annoyed, angry and then upset. I feel used, and discriminated.

The problem is I am 'too scared' to confront my supervisor and ask again as i don't want the other member to get into gtrouble. so this means that i can't get any extra shifts until i learn the registers.

it is so wrong

the other issue i am having is seeing the old pharmacy customers. it's not an issue in that i see them, they love to talk. some still didn't know i had gone!!! but each time i see them and they say 'oh i am sorry to what happened to you' i get upset, hurt angry at the new owners. i miss the girls i used to work with and the job.

working for a much much bigger organisation is hard. there is so much clicks, so much politics and crap. i try to go in and do my job and go home.

but with so much time on my hands at work i start to think negatively.

i have recentyly had terrible vertigo, a 5 day migraine and today again another headache. i decided to call in sick and was spoken to so rude and short by the supervisor. it's like she doesn't believe me when i call in sick. and my anxiety is extremely high in having to ring her.

i don't have the confidence to leave and get another job. i feel i am not good enough

i am sorry to vent, i know a lot of you are struggling with your own issues. and that i should be thankful that i do have a job, as a lot of people have lost theirs.

Hey @BlueBay How are you doing?

Re: Need to vent

What a shame about your car @BlueBay !

I'm with that insurance company, and I have to say I couldn't be happier with them! I don't care if I have to pay more because I know things get sorted.

I'm sure they will follow up your complaint.

As for your move, have you 'settled'? I know it takes a while, but do you feel you can call your place 'home' yet?

I'm nearly on school holidays. Only a few more days to go and I'm free! Not sure what I'll be doing during the holidays, but hopefully catching up on some sleep!

I can't complain too much. School's been good this year. Next year, I'm up for a challenge though. Because there is a nationwide shortage of teachers, I'm being placed in a double classroom. That means I get 2 teach 2 classes at once! I know it sounds crazy, but I'm absolutely looking forward to it. I have a huge space for next year, I also get highly qualified staff to help me. I'm planning all the projects I can do next year.

To be honest, as @Zoe7 has probably mentioned many times, the kids are incredible. I really love having the kids. I'm not sure what year levels I'll have next year yet though.

Missing you @BlueBay - hope to speak to you soon!

Re: Need to vent

I absolutely get it @BPDSurvivor The kids certainly make the work so much easier - could not have a more eclectic but wonderful bunch of kids as I have had this year ...going to remember this year's class for a very long time. Enjoy your last few days - we have a week and a bit left.

Re: Need to vent

Enjoy them @Zoe7 - it's been so good to read of your adventures with them this year. Do you know your allotment for next year? Still classroom teacher? Or Art?

Re: Need to vent

Back on a 1/2 and staying in the same classroom @BPDSurvivor My Principal was going to move me next door but because I have had to move twice this year temporarily because of flooding she decided to let me stay where I am. I think I may have 5 or 6 of my grade ones back next year for year 2 so that will help. Most of them are quite low so I will know where they are at and where to go with them already ...which will be a big advantage for both me and them.

Re: Need to vent

Is it a big school? @Zoe7

Re: Need to vent

Quite big for Tassie @BPDSurvivor About 490 kids this year but growing all the time. It has a great reputation and so many people want to either teach or send their kids there but it is hard to get into. If the kids aren't in the catchment area then they won't be accepted. I was very lucky to land there - was only supposed to be for a year but my Principal made me a permanent transfer without me knowing ...which was actually a really big deal and I was very surprised.

How big is your school?

Re: Need to vent

Our school has about 2500 students. Like yours, it's got good results so people try to get it but need to be in the catchment area. @Zoe7 - to me, I can't see how 2500 students live in the neighbouring houses....oh well... that's not my issue. I'm only a teacher.

Next year, I think I'll be teaching between 700-800 kids in a week. At the moment, I teach minimum 400 kids a week. I'm a specialist teacher so I don't have my own class.

Re: Need to vent

That was me last year @BPDSurvivor I had kinder to grade 6 for Art but it didn't seem so many as I loved the work. 700-800 is way too many. I hope you don't have to do individual reports for them all 😮

In response to: Re: Need to vent

Re: Need to vent

Yes....individual reports for all including comments each term. I did 400 individual reports this semester - progression points, comments, behaviour/effort and all.... @Zoe7

That's okay. All part of the job.

Anyway, have a great night. Speak to you soon!
