Need to vent

Need to vent

Hi everyone

I need to vent!!

I'm not coping

I'm not enjoying my new job. It's mundane, boring and triggering. For those who don't know, I was made redundant in my pharmacy job 4 days before Christmas. I then found a casual job at a supermarket. The job I do is very boring. I have far too much 'alone' time at work so my mind wanders to a lot of stuff. I asked my supervisor if i could learn the registers as thats what i would love to do. she replied that she couldn't until next year, don't know why as we are so short staffed and they need extras.

They advertise extra shifts or replacing a shift on facebook, which i really hate. but that's how they do it. i asked my supervisor if i could pick up extra shifts even though i don't know the registers. she replied yes thats fine that i would still do cleaning.

The other day a staff member posted she needed someone to do a shift. i was the first one tyo reply and accept the shift. another girl replied after me. the staff member replied back to me saying she would give that shift to the second girl as i don't know tyhe registers. I was so annoyed, angry and then upset. I feel used, and discriminated.

The problem is I am 'too scared' to confront my supervisor and ask again as i don't want the other member to get into gtrouble. so this means that i can't get any extra shifts until i learn the registers.

it is so wrong

the other issue i am having is seeing the old pharmacy customers. it's not an issue in that i see them, they love to talk. some still didn't know i had gone!!! but each time i see them and they say 'oh i am sorry to what happened to you' i get upset, hurt angry at the new owners. i miss the girls i used to work with and the job.

working for a much much bigger organisation is hard. there is so much clicks, so much politics and crap. i try to go in and do my job and go home.

but with so much time on my hands at work i start to think negatively.

i have recentyly had terrible vertigo, a 5 day migraine and today again another headache. i decided to call in sick and was spoken to so rude and short by the supervisor. it's like she doesn't believe me when i call in sick. and my anxiety is extremely high in having to ring her.

i don't have the confidence to leave and get another job. i feel i am not good enough

i am sorry to vent, i know a lot of you are struggling with your own issues. and that i should be thankful that i do have a job, as a lot of people have lost theirs.

Awwh, @BlueBay - little Miss A does sound like a little ray of sunshine. Little kids sure can say the most funny / clever things :).

I get what you mean about how true crime stories can be a bit morbid sometimes but I (like you by the sound of it) love seeing how the detectives work and how they solve cases. I also find it really interesting trying to understand why people commit crime.

Sorry to hear about your hubby's back @hanami - yep, getting old isn't all it's cracked up to be!

Yes @FloatingFeather the minds of criminals intrigue me!

I know, I can't recall signing up for this getting old business lol.

Re: Need to vent

Hi @BlueBay ,

I had a really good first day. My first day anxieties melted away when I saw the children’s smiling faces.

Just happy kids ready to return to school.

I don’t have a specific year I teach. I teach across the college - primary and high school. Currently, I teach STEM, science, maths, PE, and reading intervention. It changes all the time. That’s the nature of teaching at the moment. It does make it more stressful though especially when I get assigned extra classes in the morning. There’s no time to prepare. Just gotta wing it sometimes.

But yes, I’ve planned my cooking sessions - ANZAC biscuits, Vegemite sandwiches, pavlova and lamingtons.

In between, we also have 100 days of school celebration - so that’s lots of fun.

Little A starts school next year?

Ive been trying to plan a holiday and for some reason, it hasn’t come to fruition. It just didn’t work out. I accepted it. And now, I’m glad because there are so many kids stuck in various places, unable to fly back!

So this just shows sometimes, if things just don’t work out, there’s little point upsetting yourself. I’ve learnt radical acceptance - to accept that which I cannot change.

Hi @BPDSurvivor

Glad you had a good day yesterday.
your cooking sessions sound like it will be so much fun and yummy too!!

you must be very busy with teaching different year levels.

yes little A starts school next year. I just can’t believe it. Where has that time gone. The school she will be going to us a very “outdoor natural “ type of school. With chickens, a goat, rabbits and ducks. They sell the eggs at their school and they take the goat for a walk. There’s lots of activities outside with water and mud!!!

they use a different learning system. Can’t remember the name the principal used. I went with my daughter and A to look at the school last term. It’s a fantastic school with an excellent reputation. I’m sure A will love it. But she’s growing up. I still remember my daughters first day and how long her uniform dress was as she was tiny. And the tears in her first day.

im going for a walk soon down the beach. It’s cold but not raining. I need to stick to my routine of going otherwise if I stop I won’t go anymore.

hope you have a nice day my friend xxx

Re: Need to vent

Hi @BlueBay, thanks for bringing this to our attention. 🙂

The SANE IT Team are making some tweaks in the background to the Forums. Some buttons (like the support button) might not be working as they normally would be. However, these issues should be resolved shortly once the changes have finished being implemented.

If there are any other functions not working and if you feel so inclined, please tag in the @ Moderator so we can flag it with the IT Team.

Hope your night is going well. 💜

Re: Need to vent

I'm really sorry to hear things have been so tough for so long now for you @BlueBay 😞.

It's really hard to stay positive and "keep your chin up" when everything around you feels super crappy and stresses and worries don't instantly disappear when we pretend like everything is peachy.

What I take away from your post is that no matter what you are going through, you have tremendous resilience and that you have all of us here in the forums with you in spirit right beside you. 💜

If you're open to the idea, a couple of things I've found that really helped me when I was trying to juggle what felt like a tsunami of stress and worry surrounding my mental health, finances, job and family (yep, the quadfecta) was by focusing on the small achievements I made each day. Whether that was going for a walk to get out of the space that I wasn't feeling good in, drawing, spending time with my dog or just trying to do just one nice self-care thing for myself each day. The other thing I do dependent on how big the stressor is was to put that thought into a box. Evaluating how much control I had over changing the outcome of the stressor helped released my intense worrying about it.
