Need to vent

Need to vent

Hi everyone

I need to vent!!

I'm not coping

I'm not enjoying my new job. It's mundane, boring and triggering. For those who don't know, I was made redundant in my pharmacy job 4 days before Christmas. I then found a casual job at a supermarket. The job I do is very boring. I have far too much 'alone' time at work so my mind wanders to a lot of stuff. I asked my supervisor if i could learn the registers as thats what i would love to do. she replied that she couldn't until next year, don't know why as we are so short staffed and they need extras.

They advertise extra shifts or replacing a shift on facebook, which i really hate. but that's how they do it. i asked my supervisor if i could pick up extra shifts even though i don't know the registers. she replied yes thats fine that i would still do cleaning.

The other day a staff member posted she needed someone to do a shift. i was the first one tyo reply and accept the shift. another girl replied after me. the staff member replied back to me saying she would give that shift to the second girl as i don't know tyhe registers. I was so annoyed, angry and then upset. I feel used, and discriminated.

The problem is I am 'too scared' to confront my supervisor and ask again as i don't want the other member to get into gtrouble. so this means that i can't get any extra shifts until i learn the registers.

it is so wrong

the other issue i am having is seeing the old pharmacy customers. it's not an issue in that i see them, they love to talk. some still didn't know i had gone!!! but each time i see them and they say 'oh i am sorry to what happened to you' i get upset, hurt angry at the new owners. i miss the girls i used to work with and the job.

working for a much much bigger organisation is hard. there is so much clicks, so much politics and crap. i try to go in and do my job and go home.

but with so much time on my hands at work i start to think negatively.

i have recentyly had terrible vertigo, a 5 day migraine and today again another headache. i decided to call in sick and was spoken to so rude and short by the supervisor. it's like she doesn't believe me when i call in sick. and my anxiety is extremely high in having to ring her.

i don't have the confidence to leave and get another job. i feel i am not good enough

i am sorry to vent, i know a lot of you are struggling with your own issues. and that i should be thankful that i do have a job, as a lot of people have lost theirs.

Re: Need to vent

@MDT sounds like you've been busier this year than previously- you've done a course & you're working? I'm trying to accept my illness but I'm really sad that this seems to mean accepting an low mood & ruminations alot of the time (well for the last 6 years). I used to function pretty well and was once even a mental health clinician! Any comments? I've lowered my expectations but now I can't even be bothered trying (working in a super easy role now). I'm at Big Boing trampoline park with my youngest of 4 & his session just ended.

Re: Need to vent

This year started like last year i guess @Sam3
I was doing my old job which was slowly making me go crazy - i was bored, undervalued and didn't get anything out of it. It was just a job "for experience"

I applied for a range of things and got some interviews but narrowly missed out on what would've been a good job for me to earn and save and move out. They said I did a really good job. But it didn't land me the role.

Eventually the winds changed one day and i received a call to work with a government organisation on a 5 month contract (i don't wanna say what organisation due to being anonymous). The first few weeks were quite good, but then covid lockdown 2.0 kicked in and ruined a lot of the work, the culture and the attitude of people. But I was happy to accept the role when it started - I needed to get out of that old job ASAP. Funnily enough, on the day I quit I got offered a role at one workplace (as I was on a rotating roster moving between different locations). It was a good day to quit. I took my last week off on paid leave lol.

Then I also started a uni course - cybersecurity. the first semester was great. Learned about coding. The next semester was a sham. It was clear the uni were after government subsidy. So many people were furious with the teaching quality and standards. So much of the material was copied from the internet. They didn't mark properly. I learned very little. BUT I did engage with it. That's probably the key take away from it all.

So here were are in October. My work contract expires at the end of the month and I have been putting in some applications. I had an interview last week for a job and I really didn't like their questions - far too broad and open ended. But the scenarios were good. I was happy with my answers. I mean they are made up scenarios, so it's more about "how you go about sovling this issue" vs "what do you do" because in the hypothetical situation its always weird. I asked for more info and then gave them the answer. I'm still remembering it and thinking if it was good enough....

my intern/analyst role is online and so I have been enjoying that. In many ways it was the only thing keeping me sane.

I guess it's appropriate that the seasons have changed now. We are in mid spring. The seasons in my life and experience have also changed. I have more experience. Engaged with an area I had not previously. I have also pushed myself in other ways regarding my skills.

Yeah - much busier lol

I think accepting illness is hard. No doubts about it. I sometimes feel guitly about it. I look at what I have and I don't feel things. But I think this can change usually depending on how hard I am on myself - I am harsh to myself and it needs to stop.

You reckon working in mental health had an affect on your own? Its burnout too hey? To succeed in today's world I am getting the impression we have to be abreast of everything (I'm 28)

@oceangirl @MDT @Sam3 @BPDSurvivor @Emelia8

hope everyone is doing ok as best as you can.

after yesterday's appt with my GP I decided to call my psych snd see if I can get in earlier to see her. I'm seeing her Monday at 9am. I'm going to be very honest with her with my fears, anxiety, depression and fatigue.
I'm also hoping that she will change my anti dep to something better that will help me.
I think it's time for a chsnge.
yesterday I coloured my hair. I don't know why I waited all this lockdown time to do it. It's covered my greys which was about 3/4 of my hair. It's now a dark medium brown.
it's amazing how old I looked with the greys.

do you know I honestly can't remember much of my doctors appt yesterday. Was so caught up in my own littke world that I have no idea what he said.

i still need to change our mobile phone company. I think I'm putting it off because I have to call Telstra and tell them. Must do it on Monday.

better go. I'm out on the deck with a coffee and the birds are hsbing a great time chirping away. Oh I'm home alone. Peaceful.
