Need to vent

Need to vent

Hi everyone

I need to vent!!

I'm not coping

I'm not enjoying my new job. It's mundane, boring and triggering. For those who don't know, I was made redundant in my pharmacy job 4 days before Christmas. I then found a casual job at a supermarket. The job I do is very boring. I have far too much 'alone' time at work so my mind wanders to a lot of stuff. I asked my supervisor if i could learn the registers as thats what i would love to do. she replied that she couldn't until next year, don't know why as we are so short staffed and they need extras.

They advertise extra shifts or replacing a shift on facebook, which i really hate. but that's how they do it. i asked my supervisor if i could pick up extra shifts even though i don't know the registers. she replied yes thats fine that i would still do cleaning.

The other day a staff member posted she needed someone to do a shift. i was the first one tyo reply and accept the shift. another girl replied after me. the staff member replied back to me saying she would give that shift to the second girl as i don't know tyhe registers. I was so annoyed, angry and then upset. I feel used, and discriminated.

The problem is I am 'too scared' to confront my supervisor and ask again as i don't want the other member to get into gtrouble. so this means that i can't get any extra shifts until i learn the registers.

it is so wrong

the other issue i am having is seeing the old pharmacy customers. it's not an issue in that i see them, they love to talk. some still didn't know i had gone!!! but each time i see them and they say 'oh i am sorry to what happened to you' i get upset, hurt angry at the new owners. i miss the girls i used to work with and the job.

working for a much much bigger organisation is hard. there is so much clicks, so much politics and crap. i try to go in and do my job and go home.

but with so much time on my hands at work i start to think negatively.

i have recentyly had terrible vertigo, a 5 day migraine and today again another headache. i decided to call in sick and was spoken to so rude and short by the supervisor. it's like she doesn't believe me when i call in sick. and my anxiety is extremely high in having to ring her.

i don't have the confidence to leave and get another job. i feel i am not good enough

i am sorry to vent, i know a lot of you are struggling with your own issues. and that i should be thankful that i do have a job, as a lot of people have lost theirs.

Re: Need to vent

You are not being too harsh @BlueBay

You need to put yourself first and if that means not meeting up with her then so be it.

Take care of yourself today hon 💗💗💗💗 At least you have accomplished a few things today.

Re: Need to vent

I agree with @Snowie .

It is a big ask for her to 'dump' all of that on you.

Healthy relationships have a balance of give-take. If she is continuously pouring her problems on you and you constantly on the receiving end, it's not healthy.

if you do end up seeing her next time, perhaps keep it shorter? Have a clear start and finish time so if you feel you've had enough, you know when you can walk away?

You need to look after yourself first.

honestly speaking, I avoid those types of people because I don't find it healthy. Otherwise, I speak up so that they know they can't keep pouring it out.

Just a note: people like this will probably continue to talk if you give them an ear or the chance to.

So no, @BlueBay , you are NOT too harsh. You e got a big heart and it shouldn't be taken advantage of.

Re: Need to vent

Thanks @Snowie I will put myself first. Self care has been a big part of me getting better.
I'm glad you replied @BPDSurvivor

You're right. I've been thinking all day. Yes she's been dragging me down. I'm very sensitive and caring. I care a lot for others snd their situations - but I csnt do this again. Yes if I do catch up I will only give myself an hour and let her know before we catch up.
Yea she will keep talking about same stuff if I listen to her.

Re: Need to vent

Actually @BlueBay ,

I was only speaking to my psychologist about this yesterday. I told her about the "needy leeches"...

I told my psychologist that I need to focus on my own MH and get stronger before I get dragged into the never-ending woes of someone else's life! I'm not ready for it, and I don't think I will be any time soon.

Sometimes, people pour and pour out because they are overwhelmed with emotion. Sometimes, this will settle. So if you think this is a one-off, and this is a friendship worth investing in, give it another go.

I guess we can't judge by one meeting. However, if you do meet again, consider some of the "protective" actions you can take.

Im happy to brainstorm some ideas with you if you ever decide to meet again.

happy to support you either way.

Re: Need to vent

Hi @BPDSurvivor i received a text msg on the weekend from this friend to say 'thank you for listening, you're the only friend i have, i have no one to talk to. thank you for listening'

i know that was nice and i do feel sorry for her, i really do. i don't want to be a horrible person and ignore her completely. but i think i may have to for a while because it is getting to me.

i need to work on my issues, i can't have anymore issues to worry about. i need to care for myself. like she does; like everyone does.

i know she has another 3 others who she can talk to (they were in hospital with us and keep in contact through messenger). but even that, i can't be bothered reading all these different messages from the others about their issues and what their partrners say and do.

i think i need to step back.

It's really hard because of my nature I like to help people and listen - but i guess it comes to a point when I can only do so much.

But why am i doubting that this is okay to do???

I think i get 'sucked into' other people's issues very quickly maybe because 'i feel' so much for them.

Re: Need to vent

@BlueBay It sounds like you're having a really rough time at the moment.

Is there anything yiou can do or focus on which will help distract right now? Like go for a walk or do some knitting?

Remember, if you need to speak to someone you can always reach out on the phone
