Need to vent

Need to vent

Hi everyone

I need to vent!!

I'm not coping

I'm not enjoying my new job. It's mundane, boring and triggering. For those who don't know, I was made redundant in my pharmacy job 4 days before Christmas. I then found a casual job at a supermarket. The job I do is very boring. I have far too much 'alone' time at work so my mind wanders to a lot of stuff. I asked my supervisor if i could learn the registers as thats what i would love to do. she replied that she couldn't until next year, don't know why as we are so short staffed and they need extras.

They advertise extra shifts or replacing a shift on facebook, which i really hate. but that's how they do it. i asked my supervisor if i could pick up extra shifts even though i don't know the registers. she replied yes thats fine that i would still do cleaning.

The other day a staff member posted she needed someone to do a shift. i was the first one tyo reply and accept the shift. another girl replied after me. the staff member replied back to me saying she would give that shift to the second girl as i don't know tyhe registers. I was so annoyed, angry and then upset. I feel used, and discriminated.

The problem is I am 'too scared' to confront my supervisor and ask again as i don't want the other member to get into gtrouble. so this means that i can't get any extra shifts until i learn the registers.

it is so wrong

the other issue i am having is seeing the old pharmacy customers. it's not an issue in that i see them, they love to talk. some still didn't know i had gone!!! but each time i see them and they say 'oh i am sorry to what happened to you' i get upset, hurt angry at the new owners. i miss the girls i used to work with and the job.

working for a much much bigger organisation is hard. there is so much clicks, so much politics and crap. i try to go in and do my job and go home.

but with so much time on my hands at work i start to think negatively.

i have recentyly had terrible vertigo, a 5 day migraine and today again another headache. i decided to call in sick and was spoken to so rude and short by the supervisor. it's like she doesn't believe me when i call in sick. and my anxiety is extremely high in having to ring her.

i don't have the confidence to leave and get another job. i feel i am not good enough

i am sorry to vent, i know a lot of you are struggling with your own issues. and that i should be thankful that i do have a job, as a lot of people have lost theirs.

Re: Need to vent

Hi @cloudcore

Thought I'd reply on my post. The few friends I have are working and I wouldn't bother them with my crap.
I need to hang on until Thursday when I see my psych.
I feel I'm sinking even further down. Not looking for wirk is hard because I've been obsessive in looking every hour or half hour.
now I have nothing. I want to cry but tears are not there. Must be holding it in.
ive got headache and a backache.
feel there's no hope at the moment. 🥲🥲

Sorry @oceangirl I forgot to reply last night.
geez I've got no motivation. I'm dressed and currently washing the bed sheets. It's sunny here today. I should go for a walk but I just can't get out the door.
I have to go to the shops and get my mum a birthday present. My son works near my parents so he'll drop present off tomorrow morning.
I csnt be stuffed.
my new psych rang me last night to see how I was and coping. She also had to chsnge time for my appt Thursday. I've never had a psych ring me directly. It's always been the receptionists. She's so caring.
ok the washing machine is finished. I'll go and hang sheets outside. Thst may motivate me to go out for a walk and shops.
what are you doing today?

hi 👋 @Snowie @Anastasia @MDT @MDT @Shaz51 @Owlunar

@BlueBay Glad you have such a caring and supportive psych. I didn't sleep too well last night because Milo was sick and I have to take him to the vet this afternoon. I am lacking motivation too. I need to change my sheets too. I have not done much today so far. I have just done washing and wiped out the microwave and made myself a healthy lunch. I am going to get organized for this afternoon and take a shower and freshen up before I have to go out. I have not had my hair done in a while so I will probably book an appointment to get my hair done. I will be back on later today probably before dinner and after and hopefully we can catch up then. Thinking of you my sister- keep your chin up. You're awesome and beautiful !!

Re: Need to vent

Thank you for bringing me to this post @BlueBay,

I can see that you're a kind and compassionate friend that doesn't want to burden others, but just remember that you matter and your feelings deserve to be heard! I'm glad you were able to open up to us on the forums as a substitute.

It can be really hard to do important tasks, like looking for jobs, when you're overwhelmed and emotionally exhausted. Have you been able to get much rest lately?

Re: Need to vent

Hi @BlueBay

I agree with your psychologist that if you don't get around to doing things you enjoy then you will go down further - I am wondering if your break in hospital helped you at all or if you are suffering from a back-lash since you came home. It does sound like it.

We all have to deal with feeling crappy and unmotivated at times - I think it demands a habit and if our habit is giving into not being bothered or feeling unmotivated then that will take us down. If were are in the habit of getting on with things regardless then we do feel better.

I don't go to work and I live alone - sure I have support workers and they do a lot to keep me in touch with the community during this lock-down - 6 of them now - but yes - I do fill my time with things I enjoy - I read, use my computer to search for info and also do on-line shopping. I play the piano and watch movies. I walk when I can.

I have pain in my body but I find it essential to get up every day and move around and do exercises. Keeping fit is vital. I don't have any trouble motivating myself but I do understand that you do but this is a choice you make.

I think it's just easier for you to feel bad sometimes - I get it - there is no need for you to get upset and you don't have to feel so unhappy all the time - you live near the beach - I would love to live nearer so I could just walk there without catching a bus or getting a taxi - which I do sometimes - I just imagine walking a short distance and enjoying feeding the birds. I love staying at Lakes Entrances and walking along the Lake and enjoying the wild-life

It really does break my heart that you have so much sorrow - we all do actually - everyone I have ever spoken to had a shadow in their past - I guess we can choose how to accommodate that - you can do - I wonder if your therapists are helping you with that

Try and make tomorrow a better day by taking a walk to the beach first thing. I think we are in for an early spring - please make the most of where you live now

Re: Need to vent

@BlueBay I hope your sleep this afthernoon helped. I went to the vet this afternoon, and Milo seems to be okay. Have you had a recent blood test- I have noticed when I have taken my vitamin D it has helped me (energy levels). I hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

Hi @Owlunar

but now I'm back in bed. There's nothing to do. The wind is getting stronger and it's cold.
I tried colouring in before but got bored. All I seem to do is look on social media. Im going round and round in my mind.
lockdiwn extended another week.
Dinner is on - pork in slow cooker.

Re: Need to vent

Hi @BlueBay

Well done for getting out this morning. You should be really proud of yourself.

Lockdown is extended here another week too.

Well done also for having tea cooking already. I like using my slow cooker too. It makes making tea easier sometimes.

Hope you enjoy your movie.

Re: Need to vent

Hey @BlueBay. I'm sorry for how you're feeling today. I can relate, I've been having some reactions to lockdown/Covid news myself.

I agree that getting out of bed and out of the house should be celebrated. Being able to get out into nature can have such a calming effect, especially to the beach. There's something about the waves crashing and feeling the vastness of nature that soothes me.

Watching a movie on a cold and windy day sounds like some good self-care.

Sending care 🌷
