Need to vent

Need to vent

Hi everyone

I need to vent!!

I'm not coping

I'm not enjoying my new job. It's mundane, boring and triggering. For those who don't know, I was made redundant in my pharmacy job 4 days before Christmas. I then found a casual job at a supermarket. The job I do is very boring. I have far too much 'alone' time at work so my mind wanders to a lot of stuff. I asked my supervisor if i could learn the registers as thats what i would love to do. she replied that she couldn't until next year, don't know why as we are so short staffed and they need extras.

They advertise extra shifts or replacing a shift on facebook, which i really hate. but that's how they do it. i asked my supervisor if i could pick up extra shifts even though i don't know the registers. she replied yes thats fine that i would still do cleaning.

The other day a staff member posted she needed someone to do a shift. i was the first one tyo reply and accept the shift. another girl replied after me. the staff member replied back to me saying she would give that shift to the second girl as i don't know tyhe registers. I was so annoyed, angry and then upset. I feel used, and discriminated.

The problem is I am 'too scared' to confront my supervisor and ask again as i don't want the other member to get into gtrouble. so this means that i can't get any extra shifts until i learn the registers.

it is so wrong

the other issue i am having is seeing the old pharmacy customers. it's not an issue in that i see them, they love to talk. some still didn't know i had gone!!! but each time i see them and they say 'oh i am sorry to what happened to you' i get upset, hurt angry at the new owners. i miss the girls i used to work with and the job.

working for a much much bigger organisation is hard. there is so much clicks, so much politics and crap. i try to go in and do my job and go home.

but with so much time on my hands at work i start to think negatively.

i have recentyly had terrible vertigo, a 5 day migraine and today again another headache. i decided to call in sick and was spoken to so rude and short by the supervisor. it's like she doesn't believe me when i call in sick. and my anxiety is extremely high in having to ring her.

i don't have the confidence to leave and get another job. i feel i am not good enough

i am sorry to vent, i know a lot of you are struggling with your own issues. and that i should be thankful that i do have a job, as a lot of people have lost theirs.

Hi @BlueBay

I have read that you are having a rough time lately - I understand this.

It is the anniversary of my son's death tomorrow - I'm sure you understand. I have also needed time out for othe reasons

I am actually dealing with my own life-stuff at the moment and I have been feeling overwhelmed. I believe it is time to rest and draw on my own resources - to reflect on my personal survival and refresh myself. We can chat in the future

Re: Need to vent

you're so kind sis @Shaz51

I went to see my regular GP this morning. He looked at my tonsils and said they are very inflamed and i have a very narrow airway, which I am guessing is not a good thing. Anyway, he prescribed some medication to reduce the swelling which will help. He also did a throat and nose swab to send away to test and see if i have a certain virus (not covid). Results back on Monday and he'll call me. He wrote me a medical certrificate to not go to work tomorrow, whcih i told him they will not be happy. he replied 'bad luck, you are too sick to go in'. I left there and called work and the retail manager answered. i explained i just saw my GP and he doesn't want me to go to work as I am still not well. I apologised and she thanked me for calling. But i know her - she is nice to me on the phone and will then back stab me once she hung up. But do you know what - i really don't care anymore. If they sack me I don't care, which my doctor said they can't sack me for being sick. But they will find ways of getting rid of me. It is what it is at the moment. I can't help being sick.

I am going to rest up again today and can't do much anyway - we are in lockdown no 5!!

My GP was very impressed by my new psychiatrist. She wrote him an 11 page report after seeing me a few weeks ago. I couldn't believe it - 11 pages!! My GP showed me, he said it was very positive. This psych doesn't want to open up the trauma side of things just yet. My GP said to me 'she really listened to you in your session'. For once a psychiatrist has actually stopped and listened to me. In prevoius times with other psychs they would not listen and too busy changing meds or writing out new scripts. Maybe this new female psych is what i really needed.

I am so happy that now I have a great support team - a fantastic doctor, a nice psychologist and a fantastic psychiatrist.

Re: Need to vent

I am so pleased to hear that you finally have a pdoc who listens to you @BlueBay . She sounds like a good fit and will be a great support to have over the longer term. Sorry you continue to be unwell, and I hope things ease up for you in that regard very soon. Clearly you should not be working right now ... no option. Rest up now and give yourself a break.

Emelia 🤗💕
