Re: Sick of everyone

Re: Sick of everyone

i am new here as of y'day, so here goes. I am on the eve of turning 61, that totally scares me, as if the big 60 last year wasn't enough! But, i am here and still alive. I used to think at 60 that is ancient and i would be content to "go" not long after, but have come to believe that some of us are meant to go the whole 100 yards, no matter what age illness's throw at us along our journey, sure i get anxious a lot thinking what's in store for me, but i would like to think i would fight my hardest to stay till the man upstairs tells me it's my time. I have so far survived through my ex husband killing himself on the freeway almost 16 years ago whilst having a paranoid, psychotic attack, then 3 days after his funeral, my then 19yo daughter began her journey into mental illness, many shock treatments, psych ward holidays, and still to this day at almost 36 she is still struggling. If that wasn't enough my youngest daughter was diagnosed 4 years ago as well, so, if that hasn't broken me with this soul shattering stinking thing called mental illness then i would say i was meant to be here to be a strong woman/ Thanks for reading my long winded novel 🙂

Hi @pip, @stressless and All,

Past hurts can be very difficult to talk about and lost relationships very painful. Focussing on the present and what is going well or, what I can change now often helps us to accept and move forward.

I agree @stressless that humour can help lighten the moment and diffuse tension. It can be tricky to know when is the best time to use it.

Go gently and keep posting 🙂

Dear TAB. I have met someone, but taking it extremely s-l-o-w-l-y. Terrified of getting hurt again. Bit skeptical where men are concerned. I do have a very good friend (male - married) who has been helping me. His mate was the one who led me to believe he was serious. My friend is pretty angry about his mate and he has been 'there' a lot for me. New man is proving to be very genuine, but time will tell. As the song said 'One Day At A Time'.

Hello @stressless and @pip

You both have plenty of reason to be strong. I am in great company. I thought I might find my tribe on here.

Isnt it interesting how just having a little interaction with others can bring out different parts of our stories.

I learned more about you @pip, though it was obvious in your earlier posts that you had plenty of empathy and had been through a lot.

My brother loves the saying "what doesnt ki-ll us makes us stronger".

I prefer not to stick to one approach or mantra.

Glad to find other older wise souls ... can I lean my head on your shoulders too, if I need it?

Its hopeless, better off single. Some say once you're really comfe in your own skin, it comes naturally. Just be yourself and keep meeting people. I hide from men. Rather not say what I think of them. Yes I know, shouldn't generalise. Guess I'm more frightened what happens inside of me when they're around PTSD. Nice to see it working for others though. yes, sounds so re single. and nice to hear from the Bible. think it also states that single women outside city walls should be stoned. actually heard of this firsthand from f friend who was in Turkey in the 80s. she was publicly stoned by a group of men.Her heritage is English. anyway she still seems to function despite visting ridiculous countries.. she was last there a year ago lol yes better off hiding maybe
