Re: Sick of everyone

Re: Sick of everyone

i am new here as of y'day, so here goes. I am on the eve of turning 61, that totally scares me, as if the big 60 last year wasn't enough! But, i am here and still alive. I used to think at 60 that is ancient and i would be content to "go" not long after, but have come to believe that some of us are meant to go the whole 100 yards, no matter what age illness's throw at us along our journey, sure i get anxious a lot thinking what's in store for me, but i would like to think i would fight my hardest to stay till the man upstairs tells me it's my time. I have so far survived through my ex husband killing himself on the freeway almost 16 years ago whilst having a paranoid, psychotic attack, then 3 days after his funeral, my then 19yo daughter began her journey into mental illness, many shock treatments, psych ward holidays, and still to this day at almost 36 she is still struggling. If that wasn't enough my youngest daughter was diagnosed 4 years ago as well, so, if that hasn't broken me with this soul shattering stinking thing called mental illness then i would say i was meant to be here to be a strong woman/ Thanks for reading my long winded novel 🙂

Re: Sick of everyone

Hi stressless. Well at 65 years young, when I was in my 20's and 30's that 50 was 'old'. My first hubby suicided at the ripe old age of 27, leaving me with two small kids. I have since survived two more marriages, both ending in divorce. My 2nd hubby is now deceased, he was 21 years older and died in 2011. 3rd marriage finished, so I could ask myself, why me? I have chosen instead to accept what's happened and live for me and my now grown children. I have also survived suicide attempts, I though I had met THE man who would be my 'soul mate'. He turned out to be a 'fizzer' as well. I have met another man, whether it will lead anywhere, who knows, but whatever happens, it's meant to happen. Perhaps I'm meant to be alone, some women are better alone. Mental health and me are well acquainted, but my experience has taught me to be self-reliant and true to me. I matter to me and my kids and g'children. I'm alive and that's another count for me.

Hi @stressless

Welcome to the forums 🙂 I'm glad that you've found us here! There are people of all ages and walks of life here and i'm sure there are many who will be able to empathise with your fears of getting older.

I felt very scared when i turned 30, though for different reasons... never thought i'd get to thirty, then realised i really wasnt heading in the directions/achieved what i'd wanted to and felt so afraid of the future! A bit different as i say...

You've had a lot happen in your journey in life so far, a lot of sadness, i'm so sorry to hear, but im sure you will also have so much wisdom and strength to share, which is sometimes the only befefit for surviving some hardships. I hope you find the forums a supportive space to be.

Take care

LJ

Re: Sick of everyone

you are sounding like Elizabeth Taylor with all those marriages under your belt lol. We have to have a sense of humour, or else we'd be 6 foot under. laughter has gotten me through the dark days, and yes, you are the world to your family, don't lose track of that, you are unique.

Re: Sick of everyone

Stressless. Please, PLEASE. Never, ever put me in the same class as Liz Taylor. First hubby was gay, didn't know, I was too green to realize. 2nd hubby was still in love with 1st wife. Why they divorced, I will never know. 3rd hubby controlled by parents, couldn't defend me. Liz Taylor wouldn't have wasted her time.
