In too deep

In too deep

Hi there, my first post so a bit nervous.

ive long struggled with depression and anxiety, but lately, despite "doing well" I've just become more and more disassociated.

Ive been trying to hide it but I feel cracks beginning to appear, I'm in over my head and am trying to sort it out....but I'm terrified to let anyone know what's really happening for me. That I'll hurt them deeply.
how I feel and the bad choices I've made....

Re: In too deep

I am trying to be kind to myself, to take it easy. It's a real challenge.

I am working- from home and on site a few days a week. It's good work but really is causing a lot of stress, that I'm trying to get help with this week.

im trying to get out and walk every day, wat well...this level 4 Melbourne lockdown is a challenge tho. Everything just feels really. If at the moment...I'm trying to tackle it and take it easy on myself too but it feels like a lot, so big and scary....I'll get there thanks @bleepbloophello for your support

Re: In too deep

Hi @Former-Member @thank you for checking in. I'm finding my way about on the forums and I can assure you I am safe from harm. I have someone with me too, they know how I'm feeling.
I know there is support there if I need it.

Re: In too deep

Currently living in Melbourne is hard. I have major anxiety problems so when I put my mask on I can't breath.

is there anyway you can tell your wife how you're feeling?

Re: In too deep

I'm sorry to hear your struggle @Tay i know the restrictions are a challenge.
I am going to talk with my wife, she knows I'm not doing well and is being supportive. To express how I'm feeling to the true depth, I'm a bit scared and overwhelmed at the idea of it. I'm worried about how she will react and how I might feel too...how big it all might feel

Re: In too deep

Easier said than done - I know all the self care that I should do, I know I should keep in touch with friends - ring my family.

however, I don't have friends, I can ring my family - I do - but there's not much to talk about. I have hobbies - but I'm finding it hard to motivate myself.

I see a psychiatrist and an amazing psychologist - and I know what I should do but when you don't have friends to encourage you - family I'm supporting them - finding a reason to get out of bed in the morning is hard. I shower once a week because I don't care - why should I .

but someone loves me - my children, I stay strong for them.

please appreciate everyone in your life.

@LRA you know best about who would be a good support for this kind of thing, I hope there's someone who you think would be good to talk to about it. It's good you have a therapist, though I get that it's helpful to have someone outside of that (and who you don't have to pay!) for support. Also it sounds a bit trite but have you tried journaling? I've found it a great outlet and way to sort through what's going on. Anyhow, in terms of dissociating, I used to stress about it so much (not sure if you're the same) but it wasn't until I stopped myself from seeing it as a problem that it started to go away. I kind of see it as one of those finger traps - if you struggle against it you'll stay stuck. So for me, even when I felt like I was super dissociated I would pretend things were normal (not feeding it attention) and over time it becamse much less intense. Dissociation is a symptom not a problem in itself, so I think it's important to treat what might be causing it rather than getting caught up in the symptom. Don't know if that's in any way helpful but there you go.
