trigger warning son2 is totally insane

trigger warning son2 is totally insane

Hey everyone I love my son2 like all our family do but sometimes his moods are so violent and aggressive. If it wasnt for his medication I would be the target, I wouldnt last for long. Just needed to get it off my chest. pea 😞

Re: trigger warning son2 is totally insane

The emphasis on the biochemical model is misplaced. Meds should only be an adjuvent therapy. Proper therapeutic formulations should be made taking into account unique circumstances. Intelligent relevant interventions put in place.

This business of discharging people with untreated open psychic wounds is utterly insane. Meds are NOT treatment. Dont put all your faith in them. They are only a small part of the answer. Anyway thats my opinion after 50 years of watching the system, and doing an odd bit of study at top institutions.

Thank you @Shaz51 for your support, always thinking of you x

@Appleblossom @Bunniekins @Krishna I said my piece, the nurse listened and said she would email his Dr. my input into the situation. He's in a worse position than when he went in, I didn't want him to go. You are 100% on the money Appleblossom. Meds are what instigated his suicide attempt in the first place. Like your daughter Krishna drugs are what brought it all on in the very first instance. Oh if only they weren't so tempted...

Why couldn't he have just listened to the drugs aren't safe messages droned into him over the years.

Meanwhile I sit and try my hardest to get on with the day, keep busy (which I have een, my house is shiny!) and hold hope, for all of us that is, hugs all round for what is to be the biggest fight we have possibly all faced in this merry go round called life *sigh 😞

Re: trigger warning son2 is totally insane

It certainly helps at times to keep busy and other times you just have to sit with the pain, hold it like a frightened child and just sob your heart out. I’m painting the interior of my house at the moment trying to put a fresh perspective on it as it carries so many bad memories of arguments fights and pain in its walls. Am also changing my daughters room into a new creative space as seeing it with her bed and a few of her belongings in it just causes too much pain. So packing her things away into the shed for if and when she ever wants them.

I agree totally. Recently discharged my girl with meds onto the streets. No fixed address so no case worker. In the past have discharged on meds back into our care with not even a pamphlet on how to support our daughter or what to expect.

Re: trigger warning son2 is totally insane

I keep being told by medical profession that family support is crucial yet no support for the family and given my daughter is now 26, without her permission we are left in the dark and she simply won’t talk about it.

We are left with things like "fingers crossed".

@Bunniekins @Krishna

There was a good uptodate online course from the UK for carers called "Understanding Psychosis".

My son does not drink or do drugs, which makes it all the more sad when they dope him up. Also his preferred career will not be an option on heavy doses.

The "psychological formulation" can incorporate meds, but is supposed to look at the real challenges facing the individual in their life situation and come up with strategies. That makes sense to me. Still not found anyone who does it here.
