Keeping an eye on stressors and prodome Schizoaffective Disorder, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder
Hi All,
@BunniekinsI think we have had some similar experiences so I've tagged you here, feel free to tag others that you know this might apply to as well if you think they'd be interested.
I thought I'd start a thread about prodome - those worrying signs of an oncoming illness that we often miss.
For those that have had mutiple episodes, how to you go about spotting the signs things are going wrong?
What do you think - if you identify prodomal symptoms early, can you acutally prevent another episode? I'm not sure what the research there is around this.
For me signs of becoming unwell include being very grumpy/agitated, not sleeping well or at all (big one). A stranger one is my hands have peeled a bit, possibly from excessive hand washing! More actute symptoms for me are paranoia and and getting a bit manic - often a bit manic without knowing it. I have tipped over into psychosis twice in my life.
My management strategies include bushwalks, eating well, socialising with friends, music, hanging out on here, listening to feedback from family and friends and discussing any symtoms with my psyDoc.
I have been a bit stressed due to a new job (i see this as normal) but feel I am travelling well! I am checking in with my psyDoc for my semi-regular checkup soon.
