Re: Trying to stay Sane

Oh my heart aches for all of you @Anastasia

can I say something and I hope you dont take this the wrong way.
when my mother in law was in palliative care and in particular the last days she was holding on. We would go and visit and hold her hand and she would keep going. One particular night a nurse said to us “let your mum know it’s ok to go that it’s ok to leave us and she would not suffer anymore. We did tell her this and the next morning she passed away.
The nurse explained that sometimes they wait for us to “give them approval” to leave this world.

I hope I haven’t upset you more. I just wanted to pass on what we did with my MIL when she was dying 2 yrs who.
This is such a heartbreaking time for you

Praying for you snd your mum snd family

xxxooo🙏♥️

Re: Trying to stay Sane

Thank you @BlueBay. my mum made him sign a hand written note to say he'd never leave her when he was first diagnosed. I talked to her and said she really needs to let him know she gives him permission, she'll be ok.

That was yesterday.

I also gave him my permission as did my brother today just in case.

The stage he's at he should have passed by now and it's just so heart wrenching.

Grateful to still be holding his hand, administering meds and talking to him but I don't want him to endure another second of pain, discomfort, anything...

😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭

Re: Trying to stay Sane

Dear @Anastasia , once you told us your Dad was no longer able to swallow, I have been sending wishes that he can pass peacefully very soon and not suffer any longer. I will continue to send these wishes urgently.

Am also sending wishes that your Mum and you and your brother and your sons can cope when your Dad does pass.

Also that your Dad can cope with what's happening to him.

Plus whatever else I can think of - sleep for all of you, strength and endurance, ability to cope with the heartbreak, enough support from the nurses, emotional, mental and physical strength, what you need when you need it, etc.

Very much 💚 and 💔

Re: Trying to stay Sane

Last night was harrowing to say the least.

No one should ever see their loved one unconscious and in this position, ever...not for days on end...

I am very concerned about the effects this experience will have on the three of us longer term.

Does anyone know of support services please for loved ones watching their person pass and coping seeing the physical occurances during the process please @Former-Member , anyone...

😭💔

Oh I am so sorry to hear what you’re currently going through @Anastasia 💔

My heart goes out to you & your family.

Have you heard or tried this org? Violet

I have attached a clip from their webpage below

https://www.violet.org.au/violet-how-we-help

Or I also know of Griefline that has 6am-12am phone support.

Are you linked in with local palliative care support - might also have some info that could share with you around this?

Sending a virtual hug!
